Deals and treason

The days have counted their way down up until only 3 days left before we take our leave to war.

I began to see less of adien as he was preparing and strategizing with the other men.

I spent my days going back to my usual trainings with the warriors that have arrived to Kattegat. After a long day of training I make my way to the lake to wash away the sweat and mud I have grown to actually like.

I finish washing and make my way back to my room when I see Margrethe appear before me

"Margrethe" I smile as I step forward leaning in for a hug but she steps back rejecting it And i look at her confused

"The queen calls for you" she stares at me with no emotion

"Ummm ..... okay" this felt weird. "What was her problem" I think to myself

Margrethe escorts me to the hall and I enter to see freydis waiting for me as she sits on her throne having servants finishing up her hair.
She notices me walking to her and signals for everyone to leave and stares at me as if she had something to say but doesn't speak...

"Yes......" I say glaring at her

"I want you to be the first to know, that I am with child" freydis looks at me as if she was waiting for my reaction

"And I care because?" I say looking uninterested

"My child will be the next king and no matter what arrangements ivar has made with you and your husband......

"I do not care to be queen nor does my husband"

Freydis looks at me and rolls her eyes as if I were a lair

"I guess you do not know of the deal" She looks at me with her cocky face that I hated so much

"Your husband only agreed to help ivar regain Kattegat because ivar promised that after his death, adien will rule" I keep calm staring at her.

"But that was before me... my child will be ivars legacy and will rule" she demands and I get angry with the way she thinks she can speak to me.

I step forward taking out my knife playing with it in my hands and fredyis looks frightened

"I do not take threats easily" I say and she finds the courage to stand And I get closer.

Now face to face I smirk "let's hope for your sake that baby inherits your ambition" she doesn't break her stare

"Or maybe the fathers ambition would be great" her cocky smile was back

"What ever happened to your servant boy?" I ask and freydis face goes cold and she sits down in realization that I knew what she had been doing.

"The faster the baby the faster you keep your position" I laugh and she looks at me in fear

"Don't worry I do not care for your treason " I reassure her. But her face is pale white

"I....I don't know what to.." I cut her off before she can speak. "Pray to the Gods the child looks like ivar or he doesn't find out" and she looks down in silence

I begin to walk away but stop "oooo one more thing"

"next time remember, a kitten can never threaten a lion" "know your place"I roll my eyes and take my leave.

I search for adien right after.. I was angry that he had never told me of such a deal and I was ready to confront him. I look for him everywhere but could not find him

I searched my room, the lake , training grounds, and obviously the hall was empty since I just left. Where could he be? I think to myself and just make my way to my room angered.

He finally arrives and the moment he walks through the door I throw my cup at him.

" a deal!" I shout and adien catches the cup I had thrown his way.

"Wow what's wrong" he says back

"You agreed to help only because ivar promised you the throne after his death!" I throw a plate now and adien ducks as it his the door

"Relax" he says coming closer and grabbing my both arms

"Let go" I try to get off his grip "how can you not tell me!" I scream as I try to get loose from his hold

"If you promise to listen I'll let go" he speaks into my ear and I relax looking back at him waiting for his explanation

"Sam you know I am king yes ? I roll my eyes
"Obviously" I respond

Adien steps forward holding my hips and pulling me in closer

"In order for me to stay king I must always secure my safety and yours" he starts kissing my cheek.... "Vikings gain power by securing more land, I have done that even if it is in the near future without any bloodshed"

"I did not tell you because there was no need too. I did that as a means to keep ivar in check not because i actually want Kattegat, the most I want from here is you.... he runs his fingers through my hair and kisses me

"Fredyis is pregnant" I say staring at him

"Then let her be, Kattegat is still mine and I will gift it to you. May you do with it what you please" adien walks to the table looking for a paper and hands me a document signed by ivar

It was the contract signing over Kattegat to Adien from ivar

"I will never let you slip away from me for a country" I felt relief release from my chest and I never loved adien more he wasn't at all like ivar, he was smart , caring and kind.

I smile and we make our way to bed ...

It was now time to depart

It was now time to depart to war. Ivar had already gone ahead to leading the first boat accompanied by adien.

I take my leave as well with my men including finan and uhtred. The ride to England was horrible, the boat had made me sea sick and it had rained on us about two times.

The food was also horrible it tasted like grass and I push my plate to the side

"You've been throwing away most your food for a while now" uhtred notices me putting aside my plate

"It's been disgusting for a while now" I say mimicking his voice

"Mhm" he says giving me a judgmental look

"What? I say waiting for him to respond

"Are you sure your not .... you know" uhtred signals my stomach

"Oh please, nonsense" I shake my head

"I'm not" I say and he raises his eye brows in disbelief

"I can't be ..I just had my peri...." I stop to think and uhtred stops eating and stares at me as I put my hands on my head

"When was the last time that I bled ?" I think to myself and it's true

"im late" I think to myself and I am instantly nervous and uhtred takes notice.

"I am never wrong" he shakes his head and take a gulp of his drink

"I think I'm pregnant"
