Y/N and Jacob laughed as they headed down to the cafe together, Andy was staying back in the room for a moment to wait for Laurie to get ready. Y/N giggled at how awkward Andy was but she liked that, Andy was cool and she was glad that they didn't get told off for it. And she was glad it was Andy who walked in and not Laurie. That would not have been fun in the slightest. She'd have been screaming and shouting and talking about going home there and then.

"Really thought he was going to give us the talk, for a moment there." Jacob chuckled a little as he walked down the flights of stairs with Y/N. Y/N nodded and smiled in response.

"Me too, that would have been an awkward conversation." She smiled as they both reached the bottom of the stairs and opened the door to the cafe, the smell of coffee in the air. Jacob and Y/N sat down at a table, making sure to pick a table with four seats so that Laurie and Andy could sit with them when they came downstairs. Y/N looked over at the table kind of thing with food on but she figured that you could order things from your seat too. She picked up a menu and looked over it for a moment, her stomach rumbling as she did. Jacob must have heard it and laughed, looking over at her and chuckling.

And then Y/N's phone buzzed in her pocket and she pulled it out, looking at the message flash up on her home screen.

Derek👍

Hey Y/N! Just checking in, hope you're having a nice vacation! I'm super bored but I think I'm going to help my mom make cakes later. Talk to you soon, hopefully. Say hi to Jake for me :)

Y/N smiled reading the message and opened it, starting to type out a response, she looked up and Jacob briefly before looking back at her phone. "Derek says hi." She told him. Jacob paused for a moment, putting his menu down and looking at her.

"You're talking to him?" He asked, squinting a little. Y/N nodded as she continued typing her reply, she was happy that Derek had messaged her because he hadn't spoken to him in a while. "Oh." He said as she gave a nod for a reply. He sighed and scrunched his nose up a little, scratching his eyebrow before putting his hands down to his sides again. Slowly squeezing them, his hands slowly clenching into fists under the table. "Why? What did he say?"

Y/N shrugged and sent a response, finally looking back up at Jacob and seeing that look in his eyes again. The look that she hadn't seen in a while, properly anyway. Not since they'd been back at home and it was before the trial, she thought. "He messaged me so I replied, that's what you do with messages." She said with a forced smile, trying not to freeze up at the look in his eyes. She didn't even need to look under the table to know that his fists were clenched.

"What did he say?" He repeated, his brows furrowing. Y/N looked back down at her phone and then looked back at him and shrugged.

"Just saying hi and that he hopes we're having a good vacation." She responded, shaking her head a little as she looked away from his burning gaze. Jacob leaned closer to her a little, his voice hushing to nothing more than a whisper.

"You better not be lying." He told her, seething.

"I'm not." Y/N promised him, gulping a little and leaning away from him. Jacob kept his harsh gaze on her for another few uncomfortable moments before he sat back as Laurie and Andy walked over to the table, Andy patted him on the back, "Alright there, kiddo?"

Jacob's face softened immediately and he nodded, smiling sweetly at his parents. "Yep. Starving though, how do we order?" He asked them as he looked back at his menu. Y/N looked at him for a couple of moments before relaxing as she saw that the look had completely left his eyes once more. She sighed softly and picked up the menu again.

"I'm not sure." Andy admitted as he looked around, realising that there weren't many waitresses or waiters in the place. He scratched his head a little, "I'll go and ask." And then he walked up to the counter, starting to talk to a man behind the counter.

Laurie looked at Y/N, "So, you feeling okay this morning?" She asked her. Y/N nodded and gave a little smile.

"Yeah not too bad."

Laurie smiled and awkwardly patted Y/N on the shoulder before looking over at Jacob, scanning her mind for a conversation topic. Jacob continued to hover over his menu with his eyes, feeling tempted to order at least one of everything. "So, how did it go with Hope last night?" Laurie asked him.

Jacob froze and his eyes widened a little, turning to look at his mom slowly. He swallowed and licked his lips a little, trying to figure out what his mom meant. "W-what?" He stuttered, his voice quiet. He looked like a deer in the headlights.

Laurie squinted a little, "You were looking forwards to hanging out with her again, right? How did it go?" She asked him and Jacob visibly calmed down immediately, his eyes closing briefly as he sighed before looking back at her.

"Oh, right. Yeah, it went alright. Turns out she's a bit of a bitch though." Jacob replied, looking at Y/N for a moment before looking back at his mom.

"Language," Andy told him as he arrived back at the table before looking at them all and sitting down, "They'll send a waitress over in a minute, what are we ordering?"

And then they all took a few moments to look over the menu again, deciding what they wanted to eat. Y/N mumbled her response to Andy before looking at Jacob, who looked back at her, smiling but not how he usually does. There was definitely something wrong with him. She just didn't know what..
