The sound of silence buzzed around their lying bodies. The naked sun blazed above them. The vibrant, sleek grass danced according to the notes of the warm breeze. The river lazily crawled towards its destination. The impish squirrel peaked around them every now and then in the hope of stealing from their picnic basket without leaving any evidence behind of its perfect crime. It was a perfect day.
"Every year we visit this place and yet it never bores me."
"True. Every year there is something new to discover, something new to find in this place."
"For me it's the urge to come back to the things, the people, the view I left behind."
"Hmmm it's the nostalgia which brings you here. You relate and get attach to people and things."
"Is it a bad thing?"
"No, it's just your thing". Both of them smiles looking at each other.
"By the way yesterday I met someone and saw this place. It has the best view of this city. Enough area in the backyard. Well built interiors, big rooms, three of them having balconies. And your favourite spot in the house is well fitted and fully equipped with a built in big oven and Venetian gold granite countertops."
"So are we going to rent this place for our next vacation?"
"No, but I was thinking of buying it for our lifelong vacation here."
"And why would you do that?"
"Because I love you. Duh!! And also I love to see that relaxed, satiated, vivid look on your face whenever we come here. This place makes you so happy. This place makes you pick up your paint brush which you never do back at home. It's like when you come here you unleash that carefree, spirited woman which sleeps when we are back at home. And if this place is what your soul needs then I will buy a piece of it for you."
"You are right. My soul do need this place. It needs it to breath and revive. This place is like comfort food for my soul. But I don't want to live here. This place is our escape. We embrace it's beauty, it's simplicity, it's silence because for the rest of the 10 months of the year we run in the maddening traffics of our metro city, we work till our bodies hurt, we breath in haste, we eat in haste back at home. But despite of all the madness, haste and hectic schedules I want to live there. I don't want to spend my rest of the 300 days of the year here. This place holds so much of meaning for me and to us, so many memories as well. I don't want to ruin it's meaning and beauty by living here. I want to exhaust myself working and running in our metro city and come back here to let it comfort my tired soul. I want to come back here after I am tired of life so that this place can teach me and remind me of why it's worth living the life."
"Fine we will let this place teach you and remind you, comfort you and revive you."
"Also I want to let our future kids to enjoy this place the same way we do."
"So the mother of my future kids since I am not able to buy you a house, can I buy you dinner tonight?"
"Why not." She smiled at her and took her offered hand.
"So are you going to wear that black dress tonight because I was thinking of wearing that."
"No way. You did this last time as well. Why don't you buy one for yourself as well?"
"Well stealing your clothes is one of the perks of being with you, so why to spend money"
