If One Day I Have A Daughter
I will cradle that little angel in my arms
Look into her beautiful eyes and make silent promises of loving her, protecting her and supporting her.
I will learn to distinguish between her tired cries and hungry cries,
Between her i-am-excited-to-give-you-hundreds-of sloppy wet kisses laugh and i-am-excited-to-pull-your-hair laugh.
I will keep up with her forever changing favourite colours and superheroes and princesses and snacks and people.
I will build sand castles with her and ask her not to run away with the handsome charming prince she just met a day ago but to stand up and fight her own battles.
I will find answers to every one of her annoying question and question every one of her imaginative theories.
After every one of her PTM on our ice cream date, I will remind her that sky is her limit to dream and that dreams and report cards have a non-existent relationship.
We will stand in front of the mirror in our underwears and trace every one of our stretch mark and acne scar like tracing constellations in a starry night and I will tell her that these are the markings left behind by the adolescence proving that she survived growth and aborning as a woman.
We will talk about the ugly periods, complicated female orgasms and safe sex and I will make sure to make her memorise that her NO means NO, end of the story.
We will have those ugly fights and scream at each other and disagree with each other because I will teach her that as women we aren't bound to suppress ourselves in any way be it our emotions, be it our creativity and ideas in a boardroom, be it our desires and fantasies in bedroom or be it our thoughts and opinions on politics and global issues.
I will assure her that when she will be molested, harrassed or if raped, then it wouldn't be her fault neither would be her skirt's, her peaking hot pink bra strap's or her favourite kurti's fault but it would be her fault when another girl will face what she did because she didn't stood for herself and was coward enough to remain silent.
I will show her that before being a woman we are humans and as humans we need to love, take care of, support, encourage and empower each other and the one' in need.
I will share bars of chocolates and tubs of ice creams through every single one of her break up.
I will hold her hands and very carefully bare myself in front of her and show her my naked bruised heart and pointing every scar of it I will narrate the stories behind em.
I will cares her hair in my lap and tell her that love truly is ugly and hard but it's beautiful and addictive if done the right way to the right person.
On long weekends we will pack our bags for a road trip or have spa dates or just spend long hours in the kitchen baking and cooking or have movie marathons or maybe just spend the entire weekend reading, doodling, writing, painting because we will know that self love is the secret of long living beautiful women.
If one day I have a DAUGHTER,
I will accept her in any way she chooses to be and will love her as a child, understand her a teenager, support her as an adult and be there for her as a woman.
