Jungkook's words flashed like a lightning on a night. Creating unknown impulses all over my body uncannily.
That Taehyung knew something that I didn't was more than enough to make him a pawn for all the dangers that ever existed. The question of how and when didn't stand a chance. But his safety stood the first of my concern. I had to find him, even if it costs me anything.
I turned to face a rosy-cheeked Jungkook. "Do you know how to help me?"
He looked me dead in the eyes. "I'll try the best of what I can."
"Thank you." I could feel my throat getting dried up from the sudden outburst of unknown truths.
"As his friend, I have to do so." He stood up and walked towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Shenaya interrupted.
"The only one who can nearly help us at this moment is that guy who saved our butts before." Saying this, he vanished behind the threshold.
I stared at Shenaya longer than required and gave her a half convincing nod for her approval.
She sighed. "Okay let's do this."
She stood and pulled me up from the chair and with my hands in hers; we walked towards the door, waiting for a new dawn to crack some light upon us.
***
About nightfall, we gathered in the room where I woke up, which I suppose is the living room.
All three of us along with that strange guy were sitting in a circle with the box which he showed me in the middle. The box came to be a part of this whole drama when Zargon- which I suppose his name was- told Jungkook that they had found this in the lab years back. Which added up to Shenaya's stranger conclusions that this box could play a significant role in this total mess.
"How are you planning to unlock this," I asked, pointing at the box.
"How could I know? We found it in your parents' lab. You out of us all are the ones who are supposed to have any clue," he spoke as he tapped all the edges of the box as if the box would open itself up.
I turned to Shenaya. She locked her eyes onto the junction between my neck and shoulder.
"What are you staring at?" I ran my fingers through my neck, searching for something that caught her attention. "A bug?" I nudged her with my elbow.
She stretched her hands and brushed the collar of the shirt I was wearing. Swiftly getting her fingers into the shirt -earning a yelp from me- her fingers traced out the chain I wore around my neck. She swiftly pulled out the chain, followed by the dragonfly pendant, which it held.
"I remember you wearing this since the incident. How about we try this one for a key?" She quizzed amusingly.
Zargon leaped up from his seat and took the pendant from Shenaya, removing it in one go. "You out of all the three have some brain."
I could say he did a small victory dance the moment the pendant/key went effortlessly into space. The box opened with a foreign sound. Chimes of metals, very pleasing and serene sound.
"It's a music box? All these years I was protecting this thing?" It petrified him after seeing the most unexpected thing inside the box.
I took the box into my lap and brushed my hands on the mirror, above which an elegant lady was swinging side to side. "Give me a knife." I turned to a very angered Zargon.
"Why? Wanna kill me?" He scoffed.
I clicked my tongue and stood up, placing the box beside Shenaya. Walking closer to him, I looked dead in his eyes and marched straight towards him.
As if sensing some danger, a six-foot-something-tall giant rebukes me, a five-foot-tall midget.
"What?" He barked.
I could see him moving back with each step I took ahead.
"Are you going to headbutt me in my stomach?" He was muffling a laughter and pointing where my head would land if that was the case.
"No, I'm going to shred your kneecaps into prices and feed it to the crows. What to fight me?" I was having no intention to hold back.
I could say he felt chills running down the back. He hurried back and banged into the wall behind him. He stood so tall in front of me, my head reached just above his mid thoraxic area. I had to crane my neck to reach his wavering gaze, which ran all around the room but my face. I placed a hand on either of his sides, encircling him between me and the wall, and let out a chuckle which I didn't know I could make.
"W-wait, don't k-kill me y-yet. I'm still a virgin." I could hear him swallowing his saliva.
"Guys, stop fighting like baby's" I heard Shenaya call out from the behind.
I turned to face her. At that exact moment when my eyes on him waved, he took hold of both my hands, pinning them behind, and turned me around so his chest was pressing into my shoulders.
He ran a knife about my neck, so near as if I could feel the metal smoothly grazing over my skin. "Wanna try it again?" I could hear the sarcasm laced in his voice. Where did he pick the knife from?
"Says the person who didn't want to die just because they are a virgin." My laughter was hard to contain. I could see the other two, Shenaya and Jungkook, trying their best to not laugh.
He once again strengthened his hold, pressing me further towards him.
I took the risk of raising my legs and trying to kick his knee, which was miraculously successful. His grip over the knife loosened as it fell beside me, all in a slow motion.
I took the knife in front of him and walked towards the box.
Placing the box on my lap, I pressed the knife into the gap between the mirror and the side of the box. The knife went in smoothly. With a little pressure applied, the mirror lifted, and to our wonder; it held something which might have caused these troubles.
A few stacks of papers, not over ten. All scribbled in the very familiar fonts and words. The most familiar ones I must say. That familiar that I could feel confusion and breathlessness all at the same time.
Ethinyl estradiol. The most familiar drug. Precisely an antifertility drug.
The name of this drug was repeated more than a considerable amount in those papers. That too it is said they found traces of this drug in food. But why?
Why would Mr. Witzie be looking for this paper? What was his connection with these papers and what did Taehyung know?
