Days came by soon as our bond as a team of four strengthened considerably.
Zargon and his group of soldiers who were cyborgs, which I realized a lot later, helped us to practice some kind of defense techniques. Not the advanced ones of guns and grenades', just a few kicks and punches.
I was drenched in sweat by the time the sessions got done with, same with Shenaya. But Jungkook had his inbuilt defense mechanism, which made things easier for us.
By nightfall, he along with some cyborgs would go around Felicity and meet with other hybrids, updating them about the situation. This will make things easier because they too could help us in finding Taehyung.
I sat by the door where Zargon stood, as my legs gave out after the work-out sessions.
"Tired?" He sat next to me.
"Yeah. Won't your suit be ruined?" I asked. It looked too good to be cheap. Red with black patterns around the collar which shimmered in the evening sunlight.
"That's the least of my bother." He said. "Don't you have anything to ask me? Or are you too comfortable with me?" His voice was laced with a slight hint of sultry.
"Don't think too highly of yourself." I patted his shoulder. "How do you know me?"
He looked me in my eyes. His black orbs were persuading me not to look away from them. As if his eyes wanted to talk to me.
"We used to be friends." He looked away.
My expression was obvious for him to know that I didn't catch what he meant.
"Before the accident in the lab, I came with my parents to your parents' lab for some collaboration works, all the way from Japan. We got along well and I was here for around three months. You were around six or seven then. We used to play around and have fun all day." He spoke the story about me, which I don't remember.
"How come I remember nothing?" I asked.
"Around four years later, I heard the news about the fire in the lab and you survived. Later on, the case was closed saying an accident because of gas leakage in the lab. You being one survivor and a minor, they didn't question you. But thing was that nobody remembered anything. Why they were in the lab, how the fire happened. Even scientists from the lab were asking what they were doing there in the lab." He said. "That's when we realized it might've been some chemical that erased your mind."
"But what made you go hiding in the forest?" I asked.
"Did you know that a forest other than Private Covet existed until now?" He questioned back.
"Wait, this isn't Private Covet?" I looked around.
"Witzie has his way with things. Private Covet ends when you leave the premises of Felicity. They set the whole thing up in Private Covet. This is the thickest forest that exists now. So they won't be getting into it that easily. Specifically on the night time. The wildlife is more luxurious than you think." He said with a smile on his face.
"Ok. But why go against the aliens?" I asked again.
"One reason was to find you. The next is because I was born to be here. Both my parents were the followers of this clan. A nearly endangered group of people who were as powerful as the aliens, cyborgs. Their prosthetic parts strengthened them. Aliens found it as a threat to the human race and went witch-hunting them. A few survived. That is what you see around now. It was their forest, I was the next-in-line to be the leader after the Alpha. But in that fire in your parents' lab, he was one among the dead. I ascended to the so-called throne when I was seventeen." He told with a proud face.
"So how old are you exactly?" I asked.
"I am seven years older than you." He looked at me, then stared at the setting sun. "It's about to be night soon, let's go back. Shenaya would be waiting for you." He stood up, pulling me with him.
"So are you a cyborg too?" I was curious.
"What do you think?" He looked at me as he took strides ahead.
"You don't look like you have some prosthetic parts," I said my conclusion.
"What if my prosthetic part is a one which cannot be seen in public?" His voice was deep and voluptuous.
I halted my steps. It took a second for the bulb in my head to the light.
I looked around in search of something.
"What are you looking for?" He was facing me now, with his hands on his hips.
"A stick strong enough to hit the crap out of you." I retorted.
His laughter boomed in the woods as he ran for his dear life, with me hot off his trail with my shoe in my hand.
We still had a long way to go to reach our destination, Taehyung. For that, we had to figure out how to get those papers to the authorities. Only if a miracle happened, things would go as what we had in our mind.
