My main source of stress in my life is, unsurprisingly, my anxiety disorder. So many people struggle with anxiety disorders and even just regular stress. Here's some coping mechanisms that will hopefully be useful!
[The number for the anxiety crisis hotline will be at the bottom of the page]
- Take a 30-Minute Walk [it clears your head, believe me]
- Buy/Use a Weighted Blanket
- Or Make One! [you can layer several heavy quilts/blankets on top of yourself and it has the same effect]
- Breathing Techniques [some common ones: in for 4, hold for 7, out for 8; in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4]
- Watch a Relaxing Video
- Use Essential Oils [lavender particularly has anxiety-reducing properties]
- Drink Tea [I recommend chamomile]
- Paint
- Draw
- Chew Gum
- Drink a Glass of Water
- Take Some Tums [do not take more than 6 per day, and do not take them every day. Only take them when you cannot calm down on your own.]
- Take a Nap
- Put Down Your Phone for 30 Minutes
- Listen to Relaxing Music [Weightless by Macaroni Union can reduce anxiety by up to 65%]
- Eat Something Light [toast, rice, crackers, etc.]
- Paint Your Nails
- Write/Type Out Your Feelings/Emotions/Thoughts/Concerns
- Start a Blog [maybe not on Tumblr since that's a bit of a crappy place, but there's lots of other websites you can use instead!]
- Hold/Pet an Animal
- Listen to White Noise [rain sounds, a fan, etc.]
- Buy a Diffuser or Use a Lavender-Scented Air Freshener
- Play With Slime
- Call/Text a Close Friend
- Go on Omegle and put "Anxiety Attack" or "Panic Attack" as one of your interests; be very careful with Omegle; it can help but a lot of times you'll only get d*ck pics and p*rn links
- Light a Candle
- Reduce Caffeine Intake [apples can actually help wake you up more than caffeine in some cases!]
- Watch a Funny Video
- Be Around People [whether it's one person or ten, the presence of anyone else can help reassure you and prevent a panic attack]
- Hug Someone!!
I'll be adding more as I come up with them! Also, I'll be doing another chapter on how to calm down from a panic attack
1-800-950-NAMI (6264) - National Alliance on Mental Illness Hotline [they're a hotline for any mental health condition, including anxiety]
