King Cold watches Planet Vegeta through his scouter screen as his fleet approaches, attended closely by Berryblue, Kikono, Zarbon, Dodoria, the Ginyu Force and others. The Saiyans take notice as the ships enter the atmosphere; Gine emerges from her house with a concerned expression. Cold's vanguard flies out of the mothership in advance of its landing, and the fleet takes no care avoiding structures as the ships fly up to the king's castle, and some structures are destroyed, which angers Beets.
Beets: Damn it! They're crazy!
King Vegeta's Majordomo enters the throne room to inform him.
Majordomo: Great King Cold has arrived.
King Vegeta: So it would seem.
The king seems displeased at this unexpected visit, and nervous, while Paragus is seen shaking in fear as the ships fly past the windows of the throne room. The vanguard lands at the spaceport, followed by the mothership. Cold disembarks with his entourage, including his son Frieza. King Vegeta and his retinue go to meet them.
King Cold: It's been too long, King Vegeta.
King Vegeta: Great King Cold, welcome.
King Vegeta offers his hand in welcome, but Cold ignores it. He then introduces the Saiyans to his son.
King Cold: Allow me to introduce my son, Frieza.
King Vegeta: It is a pleasure to meet you, Frieza -sama.
After a brief hesitation, the king welcomes Frieza and kneels before him; the other Saiyans follow suit. Frieza acknowledges their greeting.
Frieza: The pleasure is mine.
King Cold: Getting right to it, I have decided to retire. As of now, Frieza will be taking over my forces. Put another way, the Cold Force will be called the Frieza Force. Nothing will change. The Saiyans need only work according to the Frieza force's orders. If there is any slight difference, it would be that Frieza is even more cold-hearted than I am.
When Cold is done speaking, Frieza flicks the hand off his shoulder and laughs, introducing himself with condescension.
Frieza: Greetings. I have special expectations from all of you Saiyans. To commemorate my installment today, I brought you some new combat items. These are newly developed devices called scouters. They are made more compact than the surveillance Scout Scoupes that you have been using up to now, and you can also simultaneously use them as communicators. As Frieza demonstrates the ability of these new scouters to detect life forms and assess battle power, he notices snipers aiming for him from the battlements of the castle.
Frieza: It appears that a number of Saiyans are targeting us with weapons. That Saiyan hiding in there has a battle power of...2,000. That is quite outstanding.
He takes out all four mutineers before anyone knows what is going on.
Frieza: That is the gist of it. Handy, are they not? For now, I will present you with 500 units. If that is not enough, please let me know. Goodbye, now.
Frieza leaves them with 500 scouters; the fleet departs, and King Vegeta is left crushing his scouter in frustration. Afterwards, King Vegeta checks on his son in a nursing capsule.
King Vegeta: Ho! Look how big he is getting. My son, my pride and joy, your latent battle power is a natural gift. It is you who will become the king of the universe, not that monster Frieza. I look forward to seeing you grow.
