Woods

I tie my hair up in the bathroom and look at my armor. Northern tribe armor feels lighter and stronger, but it feels wrong. I look to much like Kaylein, she's had me work with her cousin everyday for a week. But now I get to see Bear, it won't be for long but I plan to spend every second that I can with her. I hear a knock on the door.
"Come in!" I yell. I hear my room door open then my bathroom door.
"You excited?" Clovis asks, he is wearing his helmet but I can recognize his voice. That's something else that's different between the twins, Clovis has a higher voice and he talks more. Conayn tends to keep to himself and he has a lower voice.
"Yeah." I say after some hesitation.
"Is something wrong?" He asks me while taking off his helm.
"Just... nervous I guess." I scoff a little.
"About?" Clovis pushes.
"I look weird in this armor and what if Bear doesn't like it. Also what if she's gotten back together with Garret. What if she's not even there. Or what if-"
"Kiara calm down." Clovis says with a smile, "first of all you look awesome in our armor, second, from what you've told me, Garrets an absolute ass. Third, if she knows you're going to be there then nothing will stop her from coming." He says. I sigh and turn to him.
"Thank Clov." I say. He smiles and buckled up his helm.
"Ready?" He reaches out his hand. I smile and take it.

The hike through the woods is long, I originally thought that they were closer to the theater and they chose the location because of that but now I see that it's just right in the middle. Everyone around me is big and strong and a lot of them have helmets on which doesn't help to make me feel any safer. I feel a hand on my shoulder and see Concayn next to me with his mask off and his usual smile. I smile back at him. Clovis seems to be off doing his own thing, he's zoned out staring up at the sky and tripping. He walks straight into a tree and I giggle.
"Oh excuse me." He says to the tree. I laugh even more and he smiles at his joke. I even hear a small scoff from Kaylein who's all the way in the front of the group. There is a small break in the tree ahead and a bunch of the people run up to it howling and yelling. Conayn ducks under me and lifts me up on his shoulders. I laugh and scream as he runs up with the rest of the group to the theater. Everyone starts taking out little wooden things with string and big wooden bowls with cloth over them. Conayn lets me down. Someone starts yelling and I remember it as singing. A girl leans over the fire pit and starts one with one swift slide of a rock and some metal. Slowly everyone starts singing along and dancing. I laugh at how ridiculous everyone looks. I feel someone grab my hand and it's Conayn, he twirls me around and my laughing increases.
"I am not dancing!" I say with a smile. Clovis takes my arm and pulls me into a circle of people jumping around and skipping to the beat of the song.
"Oh come on it's fun!" He yells over the music.
"I don't even know how!" I yell back.
"This song is easy, just cross, cross, jump, then move to the side!" He explains as he demonstrates with his feet. I start to kick around like he did as he holds both of my hands. I laugh and keep hopping around with the rest of them. Conayn walks over to us wearing a ring of flowers on his head. He places one on Clovis then one on me.
"What is this?" I say while pushing up more on my head.
"You've never seen a flower crown either?!?" Clovis says dramatically.
"Crown? Like what the king has!" I shudder at the idea of being anything like the man who created the academy's.
"No, just a head accessory." Conayn explains. I nod my head.

After awhile I hear trumpets sound a small tune which interrupts the music. I turn to see the southern resistance walking out from the bushes. They all go and meet their friends and rush over to sit by the fire. I look around at the crowd of people and yet I can't see Bear. I turn and turn around looking everywhere but I don't see her.
"Kiara!" I hear from behind me. I turn to the bushes which everyone cane from and she stands there with in her armor. She rushes down the stone steps and I rush up them. She wraps her arms around me as I jump up at her, keeping my legs around her waist. She holds me as she walks over to a seat in the back. I see Rowan and Kaylein go to meet in a makeshift tent, probably to talk about battle plans. Bear sits down but still doesn't let go of me.
"I missed you so much!" She says, squeezing around my waist a little tighter. I don't say anything, I just take in her smell of metal and flowers. Eventually I slide off her lap onto the seat next to her. She grabs my face and examines it.
"Did they hurt you? Are you okay? What did they want you for? Do you need anything?" Bear bombards me with questions. I just grin at the fact that she is so concerned about me.
"Can we go in the woods to talk? It's loud out here." I ask. Bear nods and grabs my arm, pulling me quite quickly to a quiet part of the woods. She sits against a big tree and I sit next to her. I start to explain everything.
