Chapter Seventeen

"Ayeeeeeeeeeee YA!" Dashi moved her sword forward and it founds its way in to a zombie's stomach. It dropped to the floor with a loud groan and almost immediately died. A smile came upon Dashi's face. There was more groaning coming from behind her and she turned quickly and stabbed the zombie nearing her.

Loud whistling and applause erupted from behind Dashi and she turned. Behind her was Kwazii's twin sister - Kate. She smiled at Dashi and ended her applause. "You are truly terrific at getting rid of these annoying zombies. I was told of you wanting to become the leader of Burkland and honestly - I think you would make a great one."

A smile reached Dashi's lips. "You really believe so? When I told Shellington and Tweak of my desires they completely disagreed with me - so I had to tell them I wouldn't become the leader unless more than ten people died tonight. They agreed to that."

Suddenly a zombie was nearing Kate and she immediately shoved her sword in to its stomach. She turned to Dashi with a smile and a wave - then ran off toward a group of zombies. Growling came from behind Dashi and she immediately turned to stab the zombie. "You aren't bad," said a voice behind her.

Dashi turned once more and found Shellington. Damn it...it's like he knows I have the slightest of feelings for him and now he wants to annoy me till I fess up to it... She said to herself. Then she looked up at Shellington and smiled happily. "You aren't too terrible yourself."

He smiled at her. "Perhaps I should have never doubted you Dashi... Considering it now - you may actually make a terrific leader over Burkland. With your great fighting skills and leader potential that is."

Terrific. Dashi was now blushing and she had to look away to cover it up. She laughed nervously and nodded her head slightly. "Y...Yes...I tried telling you and Tweak I could handle it. But it's okay now. Our deal is still set - if more than ten people turn tonight I will become the leader."

"I will remember. And Dashi...if you do become the leader...don't be afraid to ask me for advise. I know a thing or two about leading," Shellington offered to her. Dashi nodded her head and he smiled. He then left to fight with Kwazii. Dashi let out a quiet groan. He is too pressuring. What ever...it is best to avoid it.

A hour or two later after - the group decided to head inside. Dashi immediately went to her bedroom. She pulled her journal out from its hiding space and wrote : I can't control this anymore. It has been so long since I have truly felt some thing special for someone... I would confide in Tweak or Kate...but God knows if they've felt this way before. I wish I could go back to the past and tell the doctors he had lung cancer...then maybe...maybe Michael would still be here!

Dashi closed her journal shut and immediately began sobbing. She hid her face in her hands and allowed her tears to flow. It had been so long since she truly grieved over Michael. She had lost people so dear to her heart...Her mother, her husband, and now her father... God knows if he was alive. But it was becoming much too painful for Dashi herself to handle...

Morning had soon enough come. Dashi awoke curled in to a ball on her bed. She had cried herself to sleep the night before... No wonder her eyes were red and puffy when she looked in the mirror. Dashi let out a sigh and rubbed at her eyes until the majority of the redness disappeared. She then dressed for the day and exited her bedroom.

The smell of breakfast cooking filled the entire mansion. Dashi entered the kitchen and smiled to Peso who was cooking up pancakes. "That sure is a fancy breakfast hence we are in the middle of a zombie apocalypse." Peso laughed and nodded his head. Dashi then looked to him with confusion and noted - "There's been tension between you and Kate lately... Do you two have a history?"
