[Enter] Chorus.

Gakushu Asano.

(Y/N) (L/N).

These two were very different people.

And yet for some reason.

Some terrible reason.

Fate decided to put them together as soulmates.

For context, let's start off with their childhood.

It was a colorless world for the both of them, quite literally actually. They were both diagnosed with monochromacy, or complete colorblindness. However, doctors couldn't figure out what parts of their eyes were affected, so they couldn't tell what kind of monochromacy it was.

The world wasn't just black and white. The world came in different shades of grey.

For some reason, even with their disadvantage of monochromacy, Fate made sure to keep them safe when it came to traffic lights or crosswalk signals.

Yet, even though they saw the same dull color, one of them found a way for it to be bright.

Here enters (Y/N) (L/N). An independent girl who comes off as average to others, but is actually hardworking and stubborn. Despite holding herself to her own high standards, she feels as though she'll never reach them and decides to be content with where she stands. When it came to others she didn't know, she couldn't care less about their opinions.

However, the opinion of her loved ones mattered to her; even if she didn't want to admit that.

When her parents learned that she couldn't see colors, they described them as feelings to (Y/N). For example, to describe the color red, her mother made (Y/N) stand in the summer heat. For yellow, her father made her stand in autumn's sunlight. For green, it was the feeling of grass and leaves. As for blue, they brought her to the beach and dipped her hands into the water.

This made her life colorful, maybe a bit more than the regular person.

Unfortunately, when she was around the age of ten, both of them passed away in a tragic car accident. From then on, she moved in with her grandmother and aunt.

Enter Gakushu Asano. The one who learned to live with his grey life. He learned to thrive what he had.

He wasn't close with his father. In fact, the two of them clashed all the time.

That's not an exaggeration.

They always tried to be better than each other, which led Gakushu to become skilled in quite literally everything.

When his father made the executive decision to force him into an arranged marriage, his dull world seemed to become a little bit more faded. When he turns eighteen, he'll get married to one of his father's 'friends's' daughters.

When he met the girl, he found that she was exceptionally annoying. A nuisance. A bother. While he did have his fair share of girls who constantly fangirled over him or asked him out, he had no interest in dating any of them. He had other things to be dealing with.

However, his father put him in a tight spot.

In the Asano abode, love was a weakness.

Love required a person to let go of their pride.

Gakuho established this once his wife, Gakushu's mother, passed away.

If Gakushu were to decline, Gakuho specifically told him that he'd assume that he'd rather fall in love with someone and let go of his pride.
