luke hemmings was an extremely emotional person. he was emotional as a baby and never seemed to grow out of it.

he went to college ten hours away from his family in hopes that he would overcome his emotions. but, he could never take control of them.

luke was having an absolutely terrible day. he had woke up late causing him to miss his 8 am class, which was graded on attendance. then, his room mate left spoiled milk in their fridge. after, he spilt the spoiled milk on the floor trying to throw it away.

after all that he was proud that he hadn't cried yet. he proceeded to go on with his day, go to his rest
of his classes, and study. when he got back to the dorm, he realized he left his keycard on his bed.

luke called his room mate, landon, to ask when he was going to be back. he told him it would be an hour.

defeated, the blonde sat in the hall way in front of his door. he felt his cheeks heat up before tears started falling from his eyes. he put his hand over his own mouth to muffle the loud sobs and closed his eyes to reduce the tears.

"hey mate, is everything okay?" a voice said from in front of him. luke opened his eyes to see a muscular, tan man with dark hair that was stuck to his forehead due to sweat. the sweat made sense because he held a soccer ball under his arm.

"y-yeah," luke squeaked out, wiping the tears away with the back of his hand.

"you don't look okay," the other boy said, sitting down beside the upset blonde. he dropped the soccer ball beside himself.

"bad day," the blonde whimpered, taking in deep breaths to calm himself down.

"well, i'm sorry that your day was ass. my names calum," calum chuckled, carefully nudging luke's side to try and make him smile at least a little.

"im luke," he whispered, a small smile on his face now even though there were tear streaks going down his pale face.

"i probably should go shower. i hope you have a better day. i'll see you around yeah?" calum asked, standing up from the ground. luke nodded his head in response and waved as the tan boy walked away toward his own dorm down the hall.

he didn't know why he came here with landon. luke hated parties. he hated the environment and how dumb everyone became. he should have just said no, but he didn't and now he was standing in the middle of a random kitchen.

luke may or may not have been heavily intoxicated. he was leaning against the granite counter top with a random drink in his hand. he didn't know how much he had to drink. all he knew is that he could barely see straight.

in the background, love story by taylor swift was playing. why? nobody knew. but everyone was singing the lyrics very loud.

tears began to fall from luke's blue eyes onto his pale cheeks. before he knew it, small sobs were leaving his mouth. he gripped the cup tightly, causing the the plastic to crack. his drink spilled onto his clothing. this made luke cry harder.

"hey i'll be right back," luke heard from the living room. usually, he would try to hide but he couldn't even think properly.

"luke?" the voice asked. he remembered it too, it was calum.

"are you okay? are you hurt?" calum said, obvious panic in his voice. he hustled over to the blonde, taking the broken cup out of his hand.

"hi," luke whispered, trying to wipe the tears away.

"you smell like straight alcohol, let's get you back to the dorms. yeah?" calum chuckled. luke nodded and stumbled forward. in response, the dark haired boy wrapped his arm around his waist to guide him.

the older boy walked slowly with luke back to the dorms. he wanted to make sure the blonde didn't hurt himself.

"here we are, do you have your keycard?" calum asked, carefully letting go of the younger boy. luke nodded, sniffing a little bit as he reached into his pocket. he handed the card over to calum.

the tan boy unlocked the door and let luke go in first.  luke stumbled over his own feet, falling to the ground. tears formed in his eyes once again.

"oh fuck, don't cry. it's okay!" calum reassured, quickly closing the door behind himself. he bent down to help luke up.

"that hurt," the blonde mumbled, tears falling. once luke was up, calum directed him toward what he assumed was luke's side of the room.

calum stayed the night with drunk luke. he slept leaning up against the bed, his head resting against the bed post. luke didn't do much once he got settled in. he mainly just talked about anything and everything. the tan boy didn't understand, but it made him laugh.

calum woke up the sound of luke getting out of bed and sprinting to the small trash in the corner of his room. luke picked up the trash and spilled his guts into it. with a small chuckled, calum got up off the floor and walked over to the blonde boy.

he moved his hand against his back to try and comfort him. although luke appreciated it, he felt a bit embarrassed because he was throwing up in front of an attractive boy.

"that's so gross," luke whined, tying up the trash bag to take it out.

"i mean yeah just a bit," calum laughed, gently resting his hand on luke's lower back.

"im so sorry that you had to take care of me, you really didn't have to stay. but thank you," luke rubbed his eyes before going over to the sink to brush his teeth. calum stayed in place.

"you just talked a lot, it wasn't anything bad at all," calum explained before walking over to his phone.

"i have to a paper to write but if you need me, call me," calum smiled with a small laugh. he left before luke even had a chance to answer.

how was he supposed to call if he didn't even have his number?

with a groan, luke walked back over to his bed. he plopped down, noticing a piece of paper on his desk. quickly, he got back up and went to grab it.

'luke,

i enjoy spending time with you (even if i've only mainly seen you drunk or crying) don't hesitate to call me ;)
