IN THE CAVE BY THE LAKE

Jacob watched as rocks flew into the air and closed off the cave entrance, leaving him and Newt in pitch darkness.

"Newt!" He called, turning towards Newt's general direction, waiting for his eyes to adjust, "Did you do that?"

"No," Was his solemn reply, "Lumos."

The beam of light from his wand lit up the cave. Jacob could see he bore a shocked expression and stared at the ground, trying to think about anything other than his dragon.

"Can you try getting us out of here?"

All of his attempts at spells to remove the rocks failed.

"What now?"

"We wait," Newt responded, "Tina will be back once the polyjuice has worn off. Maybe she can break through from the outside."

MEANWHILE OUTSIDE THE CAVE

As Tina swam towards the island where the lifeless dragon lay, she saw rocks shift out of the corner of her eye; they tumbled into the water to reveal a cave in the face of the cliff. Queenie wasn't even swimming towards the island; she had begun to make her way over there before the rocks had even moved. Suspicious, she changed direction and followed her.

They both paddled towards the cave entrance, where Jacob stood, waving his arms, gesturing for them to come. Queenie climbed up the rocks first and held out a hand to her sister, to which Tina ignored and went up after her.

Newt, who had sat down with his hands over his knees, looked up and met her eyes. She remembered what Queenie had said and dropped her gaze.

"What happened to the dragon?" Queenie asked.

"Grindelwald killed it," Newt replied dully.

Tina glanced at him again to see he was barely holding back tears and her heart sunk.

"What is this place?" Jacob asked, "Because the rocks keep on coming in and out to close off the entrance."

"This is where I got the cloak from," Queenie murmured.

"What?"

"I found it before any of you got here," She answered, "The cave opened for me and I went further in and got the cloak."

"What do you mean?" Tina inquired, "You just picked it up?"

"Yep."

"That's it?"

She nodded in response.

"But you would have thought the school would be... guarding it..." She pondered out loud. Before she could say more, Newt mumbled in a dull tone, "I'll be in the case."

He set his suitcase on the ground and stepped inside. I wish I could help him, Tina thought, it breaks my heart to see him like this. When he was gone, Queenie grabbed her arm and said, "Teenie, I know what you're thinking. You gotta stop thinking of him like that. He's gonna leave you–"

"What do you mean?" Jacob asked.

"Oh, nothing," She replied, smiling, but Tina was already free from her grip and climbing down after Newt.

Inside the case, Tina searched in every habitat she could find until she came across one with a large tree. Newt had climbed up there and sat on a branch a few metres up. He met her gaze for a brief moment before turning away.

Tina silently scaled the tree, hauling herself up onto the next branch. When she got to the branch he sat on, she hesitated before quietly saying, "I'm sorry about the dragon, Newt."
