Chapter 10
Thalia's POV
'Stupid Kelp Head! Why did he have to get such an amazing ring? Now I have to find a way to make one that is just as fantastic!' I thought to myself as I walked towards the palace of Hephaestus. 'And how did he make it so that it could turn into hunting knives? I mean come on! How can I compete with that type of ring?' I continued to think, growing more frustrated at the high standard for rings that Percy had set. "UGH!" I groaned out, before realising that I had reach Hepheastus's palace. "Oh."
As I went to knock on the palace door, it suddenly swung open and I heard the distinct voice of Hephaestus calling for me to come in.
"Over here, sister!" Hepheastus called from down the hall. And after several minutes of walking aimlessly, I finally found the forge and Hephaestus. "What can I do for you, little sister?" Hepheastus asked, still underneath an old ford.
"Well, you see..." I started, before Hephaestus cut me off.
"You need me to make Perseus's ring, and ensure that it somewhat matches yours at least in terms of quality?" Hepheastus inquired, starting to make his way out from under the car.
"Well, yes." I replied, having never had much of a conversation with my half brother, and not really knowing what to say.
"Ok." Hephaestus said, finally standing up. "I will do it, but first. Give me your mace canister and your ring." Hephaestus grunted
"My ring?" I asked, handing over the mace canister. "Why do you need my ring?"
"Just give it here lassie." Hephaestus said, sounding irritated.
"Fine." I grumbled, hesitantly pulling the ring off my finger. "Don't break it!"
"Break it?" Hephaestus asked, holding my mace canister and my ring closer together and causing them to glow. "The ring is unbreakable."
"What are you doing?" I asked, as the glow got too bright and I had to avert my eyes.
"Upgrading your weapons." Hephaestus replied, before the glow died and I turned to find my mace canister to be missing.
"Where is my spear and wand?" I asked, growing worried.
"Right here." Hephaestus replied, holding up my ring.
"What do you mean?" I asked, grabbing my ring hesitantly.
"I merged your weapons. Now all you have to do is think about what weapon or weapons you want and they will just appear in your hands." Hepheastus replied, before walking over and placing a hand on my bracelet, causing it to glow as well before it too subsided.
"Now what did you do?" I asked, staring at Aegis's bracelet.
"I modified your shield so that it would always return to you, and it is unbreakable and made from silver." Hephaestus replied, walking back over to the car. "And don't worry! I will have Tyson and Briaries help with Perseus's ring just like we did with yours! It should be done by tomorrow" Hephaestus called, having returned to his spot under the car.
"Oh." I said, still looking at the shield, before realising what else he had said. "Wait? Percy had all three of you make my ring?!?" I yelled.
"He said something about you deserving the best and the only way to get the best was having the best work together to make the best." Hephaestus grumbled, before snapping his fingers and causing me to vanish from his palace and appear in mine and Percy's dorm at the college in New Rome.
