It had previously been agreed that the Weasley and Granger women would meet Monday, 28 April in the morning in order to find dresses for the Anniversary Ball coming up on Saturday, 3 May. With Molly, Jean, Hermione, Ginny, Kathrine, Lydia, and Mary-Elizabeth, that was seven ball gowns, that was going to be a quite the feat to find suitable ones for everyone in just one day.
The Grangers and the Weasley women met in downtown London at a row near several dress shops. They decided that they would look for dresses from muggle shops, and then could add magic to them or use magic to alter them to fit in time, that way they would have a wider variety of options for dresses and more unique taste than what the few wizarding shops could provide.
First, they focused on the dresses for the three teenage girls as they would probably be the easiest to please. Not even meaning to they ended up with a pastel color scheme amongst the three of them with soft chiffon, organza, and delicate lace flowers they all three of them looked the picture of innocence and teenage bloom. Kathrine's was a pale sky blue that brought out her eyes, it had spaghetti straps with a sweetheart neckline with flowered lace and beading on the bodice, and the skirt flowed out in an A-line with waterfall ruffles down from the waist made of delicate organza. Lydia's dress was a pale rose pink also sweetheart neckline, but strapless the bodice was lined with a pink lacy print and piping accents along the princess lines. A small one-inch band at the waist and the skirt flowed out with waterfall ruffles in an asymmetrical style. The waterfall layer was a pink lacy layer with flowers and beading draped over fluffy pink tulle. Mary-Elizabeth's dress was a champagne yellow A-line gown with lace flowers all over the skirt, a scalloped embroidered hem and the flowers became clustered closer together at the bodice. The neckline was also sweetheart but had a sheer top to the bodice which covered her back, shoulders and collarbone. Mrs. Weasley was not going to let her 14-year-old go to the ball in a strapless dress, even if every single member of her family was there to protect her.
