Chapter 2

Ian Hill always interested me. He was generally quiet and didn't really bother anyone but he had his friends so he was no loner. He always came across to me as the observant type and didn't really talk about himself all that much. He certainly wasn't the type to share every intricate detail of his life on facebook like many teenagers these days.

We had never really spoken to each other. I was a lot more quiet than he was so neither of us had really sparked a conversation between ourselves. I had slight crush on him briefly a while back but when you don't talk to that person it's kinda hard to keep interest. I always kept an eye out for him though.

So when were both tied up and gagged in the back of a truck I took my time in studying his features. I couldn't wrap my head around the the incredibly foolish action he had took back in the school. I had seen him as a moderately smart human being. But God was that a stupid move.

His brown eyes looked up at mine when he felt me studying him. He had a bruise beginning to form around his eye where the guard hit him after he struggled against them. I gave him a look that clearly read 'what the hell were you thinking.' He shrugged at me and returned his gaze to the floor.

I must have fallen asleep a while after that cause the next thing I remember I was woken up and being thrown over someone's shoulder and a bag being thrown over my head. How wonderful.

I wasn't being carried long before I was dropped on a cold floor. The bag was pulled of my head and my hands were untied. They then tore of the tape which covered my mouth. Which, let me tell you, hurts. It took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust to my surroundings. I was in a desolate room with white painted brick walls. It didn't take me long to find the short cut brown hair of Ian across the room from me.

The two men who had carried us both in were stood by a large, probably steel, black door. They spoke to us in a monotone voice, " You will remain here for further instructions from your master."

"We're not exactly going anywhere." I replied bitterly.

They chose to ignore me and turned around and left, closing the door, leaving a loud thud behind them. I sat up and walked towards the door, pushing down the handle to check if it was locked. It didn't budge.

"Its locked" I spoke quietly.

"Oh really?" Ian bit out sarcastically, " I would never have guessed our kidnappers would lock the door on their way out. Never crossed my mind."

I turned to glare at him. " Don't get all snarky with me. This isn't my fault."

He face softened slightly but I turned away from him. I could feel that I was beginning to panic the more I realised how dire of a situation I was in. I knew I needed to stay calm so I could think properly.

I clutched my head in my hands and sunk to the floor. I leaned against the wall and brought my knees to my chest. I tried to think of what was going on in the news lately. This obviously hadn't come from nowhere. A dictator with a large army. Sounded like World War 2. Why come to Ireland though? We were neutral. Had been for almost a hundred years. What had changed? I really regretted not paying more attention to the news.

I did remember one piece from the news about a month ago. The English Prime Minister talking about an upcoming war. But why would that include us? We weren't part of Britain. The leader and the guards had all spoken english clearly, so probably their first language. I couldn't detect an accent though. From none of them in fact. It wasn't English or American. Nor Australian.

I was running over all the English speaking countries in my head when I felt a presence sit down beside me. I didn't look up at him and continued with my listing. I then heard him speak softly,

"Lily, we'll be ok. You need to calm down."

I looked up at him when he said this. I hadn't realised but I had gripped my hair in my hands and had begun to shake violently. Ian placed his hand on mine and he untangled my fingers from my hair and did the same with the other one.

My shaking began to subside slowly as he continued in his attempt to calm me down. He then pulled me into hug which I'm sure was to comfort both of us not just me.

We stayed in that position for a few minutes before we broke apart. We then sat in a few moments of silence before I croaked out,

"What are we going to do?"

He seemed to consider his answer for a moment. He then turned his head towards me and with a level voice spoke,

" Everything we can to get out of here."
