Time goes by, and before long, I am getting ready to be introduced as the new leader of the Clan. My father convinced me to try it, as I've been mentoring under his supervision for the betterment of two months. He is going to make me Clan Leader in two days, on the night of a Blood Moon, when the moon is red.
I am so nervous.
But in the two months since I saw Annabelle in the cafeteria, I have been getting closer to the others I met that night at Nick's house. Nick and I are also getting to be really close to one another, and I want to be his girlfriend, but I am too chicken to ask him.
I sit in the middle of the backyard of Nick's house, and I watch as Lee and Harry kick a ball around, shouting random things that make sense to only themselves.
I never realized how weird Harry was until we started hanging out, the eight of us. For a witch, he's pretty nice. Most male witches are snooty and annoying. But Harry has the proper dose of weird.
Gemma and Jade are practicing choreography for show choir. Nick, Henry, and Tori are sitting around the fire and talking about something I can't hear over the sound of the flames. And I sit alone on a bench, and I stare into the fire.
"So, are you worried about the whole becoming a new leader of the Clan?" Jade asks me as she is working on perfecting a twirl.
"Yes, I'm freaking terrified," I say.
"Why? You'll do great," says Henry.
"Something tells me I'm going to fail miserably at it," I say.
"Well, we'll be here for you if you need anything, okay?" Nick says.
I blush a little and nod.
Then, Gemma comes up with an idea.
"We could re-summon Sera and ask her about those weird dreams we had," she says.
"Sure, I'm up for it," Jade says.
Eventually, we come to the consensus that we are all going to summon her, and then we are going to talk about what we saw in our dream, if we had one.
We stand in a circle around the fire and Nick begins to talk to Sera. We hold hands, and for a moment, nothing happens. But then, the fire shifts and takes the shape of a young girl.
She's here again.
