~ Regina Tso's POV ~
I have been home with Nick for a while now, at least a month before he speaks about the events of that night.
"They came into my house late at night," he mumbles. "They drugged my parents and carried me from the house. When I came to, there was a bag over my head and a woman was talking to me. She said she was going to make sure I saw the error of my ways. Said I wasn't going to see sunlight again. She said she was going to kill me if you didn't show up."
"I'm so sorry," I say softly. "I hate myself for putting you in so much danger."
"No," he says. "Don't be mad at yourself. Just be happy that things didn't end a lot worse than we thought they would."
"You know, when they kidnapped me, they had me in silver chains and spiked my food and drink. They could've killed me with ease."
"But they didn't. So the real question is why."
"Exactly," I say.
"Well, I guess we will never know," he mutters.
"Nick," I say, taking his hand in mine. He looks at me, his light brown eyes shining. "We are not what was done to us. We are not our trauma. This is who we are."
And then I lean forward and kiss him.
He jumps and I lean back, my lips feeling immediately cold after having just been touching him. He looks at me for a moment, and then he sighs.
"I'm sorry," I say.
"Regina ..."
"I mean, I'm serious. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that and I'm sorry."
"Regina, I - "
"It's just that I -"
He cuts me off by kissing me hard on the lips. I almost gasp, but then I kiss him back, not sure I'm doing it right. Nick and I kiss for a moment, and then he leans back and actually smiles.
"You talk too much," he says.
