I land on my feet with an oomf as I sprint out my back window. My heart was racing, my adrenaline was pumping. Was I really going to get away this?
I sprint through my yard, hearing my front door get knocked down. I jump over my wooden fence and land in another backyard, crouching down near the fence. I was out of breath from shock.
I already had an entire plan to escape from the cops. I wait them out, maybe for a few hours and take cover somewhere. Then I get Emma, but I don't come back here.
So, as the idea goes, I crouch against the fence. I look through the little holes of the wood. I could see an officer moving his eyes everywhere. They looked to be raiding my house, just to find me.
I know that eventually they'll know I'm not there, and they'll put a search up for me. I have get out of here fast.
I jump up and run through my backdoor neighbor's green grass because my life depended on it.
I dash through another yard, and another, until I'm far away from my house. I was sweating more than before when I was in my house. My throat was dry, and I was heaving air. I had to stop for a minute.
Someone warned me that the police would show up. I've gotten calls from that same stranger, so I thought nothing of it. Apparently, he was right.
I walk down the street quickly. I know this place, it's almost like a park. It's a little sketchy, but the trees there would be good cover for a while until the police leave to find me after helping Jacey.
After a few minutes, I see the park area. The small forest of oak trees looked especially welcoming this time. I run to them, worried that people were out for me already.
I crouch down on the dead leaves and damp dirt, the area looking almost fake. It felt like there could be hundreds of miles of trees, but it was nowhere near that. I lean against tree, wearing quietly for the moment I knew it would be fine to get Emma.

●After a few hours of waiting, I was happy to be able to return to my home. I was near my backyard, crouching against the fence again. I look through the hole once more to check for anyone.
It was silent. The darkening sky helped me sneak around, too. It could also trick my eye. I look closer.
Still no one. Silence.
I get up, landing my hands on top of the rough, wooden fence and pulling myself over. I land on my legs and jog to my back door. God only knows how many people were watching this house now after that.
I open it slowly, and quietly. The house was dead silent. I could only hear the ticking of a clock on the kitchen wall. I turn my head to the left, looking around.
A chair was tipped for some reason, even a leg snapped off of one. I was assuming the police broke it when they raided my house for me. There's no reason to break my shit.
The bowl of rice remained sitting the table. I knew it was cold. The spoon sat next to it. It was an eerie sight, a strange feeling to know that both my girls were gone.
Anger was filling me again. One gone, and I'm only earning half the money. I bite my cheek and remember what I was needing to do. I had an even better idea.
Lucky enough, I had a small tent somewhere in my storage downstairs next to the room the girls used to be in.
I walk down the small steps, turning to the right to the small closet-like area. I open the slim door and flick on the light, my eyes wandering all over.
Almost immediately I find the tent. It was in a green bag that you could hold easily. I swing it over my shoulder and look around for a sleeping bag. Of course, I only had one. I sigh and turn around, sleeping bag in the same hand as the tent was swung on.
I turn to the girls room, taken back at the smell. I take the blankets they had and shut the door. I was just going to leave everything in there. I dont care who comes into this house anymore. I'm not coming back.

●I drive quickly down the road, my heart racing. I was nearly there.
I had everything in the back. Pillows, blankets, a little bit of food and water to last for a bit. I had a sleeping bag for myself. Fire starters. Everything you could think of for a camp.
I tap my fingers against the wheel, nearing the spot. I park, dreading having to get out. But I had to leave town quickly before I became largely searched.
I look around before getting out and running to the small apartment on the 2nd level. I knock loudly, keeping an eye for anyone who was possibly watching.
After a few more knocks, the door swings open. Jaren slowly opens it. "Password?"
I growl and push it open, him getting pushed with it.
"I don't have time for any of that dumb shit," I say, walking towards him. He cowers and nods. "Sorry," he mutters.
I sigh and look around, getting anxious. "I don't care, just, where is she?" I say impatiently, my foot tapping. He blinks a few times before walking down a short hall and stopping at a door.
I pull it open quickly, just to see that Emma was fast asleep on his bed. She was naked. I could see from all the clothes on the ground. I tilt my head back in annoyance.
"And you didn't think to fucking wake her up?" I say, looking at him. I roll my eyes and come closer, stopping by the bedside.
I pat her a few times. I breathe heavier as more time passes. "Emma, wake up," I say softly. I keep tapping her. She moves around a bit. I growl, keeping myself under much control.
"Wake up," I say more annoyed. I shake her arm.
Suddenly, her arm moves up. She slowly turns around, facing me. Her eyes go wide.
"We have to go," I say. Just as fast as I say it, I grab her wrist and pull her out of bed. She gasps, her heartbeat getting quicker. I could feel it.
She stands up naked, looking straight at me. That's when I noticed all the blood on on the sheets. I furrow my eyebrows, passing my eyes from her to Jaren.
"C'mon! Quickly! You're wasting my time!" I erupt. I slide my hand off of her forearm to let her dress. She immediately bends down and grabs her clothes, quickly pulling her underwear on.
I watch for a minute before looking at Jaren. He looks down for a minute, catching my eyes quickly after looking up. "Did you feed her?" I ask.
"No. She's fine for a day," he answers. I nod and smile. Fury was growing inside me.
"And care to tell me why there's blood all over your bed?" I ask, looking at him seriously. I can see him gulp before looking up at me.
"It's, uh, just from her, y'know," he says quietly, looking down. I bite my lip in fury.
"No, it's not," I pin him against the wall, my hand tightly grasping his shirt. "What the fuck did you do to my girl?" I ask, my breathing picking up in utter anger. My eyebrows were furrowed down.
"Whoa, whoa. Calm down," he says, pushing me off of him. My hand softens against his shirt. I look at him in confusion. "I wouldn't lie to you," he says, smiling. I roll my eyes subtlety. "It's gonna be $1,500," I add.
I look at Emma, who was basically done besides a pair of socks, which she never wore anyways.
"Great. Let's go," I say, more to myself.
I pull a mask over her face to protect her identity. She looks up at me, confused.
"W-Where's Jacey?" She whispers. I tug the mask behind her ears.
"Not with me," I say, pulling the other strand behind her left ear.
"What?" She says quietly, almost inaudible. I pull her hair over to cover the mask strings before looking at Emma in the eyes.
"We're not going back, ever."
