I walk through the infirmary doors, and fiddle with the brown buttons on my tweed suit.

Once I got to the library, I locked the doors with a click, and let out a breathe. First it was Jonathan, then Jace, and now the girl. How many more children will Valentine get?

I walk over to my desk, and call Hugo. He liked to fly up on the rafters, and it would take awhile for him to get back down here.

I pull out a piece of paper, and a quill with ink. Valentine had to know that the girl was here. There was a Clave meeting tomorrow, and they would surely take her into custody if they knew what had happened. I looked at the small parchment in my hand, and read it over.

Valentine,

The girl, Clary, is here. Your members were found beating her up in an alley, and a Lightwood found her and brought her here. If the Clave comes here tomorrow and takes her back to Idris for interrogation, there will be no getting her back. She will most likely find out about her powers soon, and the Clave will use her against you.

Hugo finally flies onto the desk, and lets out a screech. I tie the letter to his leg, and he flies away, already knowing where to go. He should be back in an hour, since Valentine is close to the Institute.

I had no doubt that Clary was Jocelyn and Valentine's daughter. The resemblance, mostly from Jocelyn, was almost scary. I could see the white strands in her red hair.

And there was no mistaking with the eyes. She had Jocelyn's green eyes. Her angel blood accounted for the gold flecks, and Valentine's blood was for the black ring around the irises, and flecks here and there. She was extraordinary indeed.
