- B R O O K E -Brooke stared out the window blankly, unimpressed with her predicament. She was leaving behind everything she knew, her friends, school, and a part-time job with the co-workers she'd grown to love. Her mother decided that since her father passed away, they both needed a fresh start and wanted to leave behind everything Brooke had left of her father. Brooke watched as the town she loved passed by, fading in the background like a little speck of dust. She could still phone and text the people she loved, but it wouldn't be the same. She wouldn't be able to see them every day, enjoying their company and going for the weekly weekend hangouts.
"I still don't see why we had to move so far away, there wasn't anything wrong with where we already lived. " Brooke rolled her eyes in annoyance, arguing with her mother once again. They had had this exact argument multiple times already. From when Brooke's mother had told her about them moving three months ago, to now in the car on the way to their new home. Her mother had chosen somewhere as far away as she could still within her price range. Her mother sighed and shook her head, taking a small glance over at her moping daughter before focusing on the road once again.
"It isn't that far away Brooke, stop complaining! Honestly, that's all you ever do anymore." Her mother snapped, glaring straight in front of her at nothing in particular. Diana understood her daughter was upset about leaving everything behind, but she was just doing what she felt was best for them both. Brooke and she often butted heads, Mark (Brooke's father) had usually been the peace-maker. The one who could usually stop them from arguing and help them to work it out. Since his passing, things had just escalated between them. Brooke was far too much like her mother, which they both refused to believe.
"Well, I'm sorry that I don't agree with your every choice mother, " Brooke rolled her eyes and mumbled monotone. Why does she always act like it's always my fault? She crossed her arms angrily over her chest and fished out her phone. Brooke just wanted to distract herself, fed up with arguing with her mother continuously. It was mentally draining, and Brooke couldn't cope much more with it. Their relationship was breaking more and more every day, the wedge between them growing bigger with each argument. They could both see it, but neither knew what to do to improve it.
"For goodness sakes, Brooke, stop being difficult! Sometimes I wish I never bloody had you." Diana stressed, huffing loudly in annoyance. Diana instantly regretted what she said, not meaning it but she wasn't able to take it back once it had left her slightly chapped lips. So, she kept looking in front, not wanting to look at her daughter, fearing she would snap further. Diana didn't want to argue with her daughter further, so she was just going to drive silently from then on. Brooke felt tears prick at her eyes, a new feeling of hatred for her mother developing. She turned to face the window, glaring tearful at her mother's reflection in her window.
"Maybe someday your dream will come true," Brooke mumbled angrily, trying her best to hide how hurt she was from her mother's comment. Brooke huffed and put her earphones in, playing her favourite music to drown out what her mother had said. She rest her head on the glass and turned her body away from her mother, not wanting to look at her. Diana silently cried, peaking at her daughter for a moment. She made a mental note to apologise to her later, feeling that they both needed time to cool down before speaking again.

"I'm going to sleep somewhere else tonight, I cannot deal with this shit!" Brooke yelled angrily at her mother, throwing on her coat and shoes as she threw her duffel bag over her shoulder and pulled her suitcase filled with her belongings along with her. She slammed the door shut behind her, making her way down the street. Brooke's mother came out after her, sure that her new neighbours probably already hated them. Diana had tried to apologise to her daughter, but Brooke wasn't having any of it. Not believing her mother wanted her or loved her after the comment.
