Brooke's eyes were heavy when she woke up, the room was dark and seemed empty, panic setting over her. She attempted to pull her arms when she realised that they were once again tied behind her back, a grunt leaving her mouth. I'm getting really fed up with being tied up at this point. Despite the pain, she continued to pull on the ropes that cut into her wrists slightly each time she pulled. Suddenly the door opened and her eyes flicked up to see Luke standing in the doorway with a box in his hand, a few things rattling each time he took a step forward.
"You're finally awake," Luke mumbled, kneeling in front of her but avoiding eye contact. It confused Brooke why he was so hard on everyone, does he just dislike everyone's company? Did he hate being here? Brooke had more questions than answers, she felt extremely confused.
"Yeah," Brooke mumbled, giving up on trying to escape. Her wrists were probably bleeding and extremely bruised by now, from two days of rope burns. Luke sighed and pulled a few items out of the box, confusion striking Brooke deeply. What's he doing?
"If I take the rope away, promise you won't run?" Luke asked with no emotion, a look of suspicion in his eyes that Brooke could clearly tell from the fact that Luke did not seem to like her very much. Which made him giving her his leather jacket all the more confusing.
"Yes." She sighed knowingly, she knew she wouldn't stand a chance anyway. She could probably get five steps out of this room and then she would get caught by someone. So why bother trying? Brooke was glad that Luke had left the door open, she hated the darkness. Luke grabbed her wrists and ankles, loosening the ropes and eyeing her suspiciously. Brooke didn't move, only looked at the wall blankly, not bothering to even think of escaping, it wasn't like her mother missed her anyways. But maybe she could make a life somewhere else?
"I'm just going to clean your cuts," Luke mumbled, grabbing some disinfectant and cleaning off the blood from her wrists and ankles, yet Brooke said nothing. The pain was nothing compared to the burning and pulling of the ropes against her destroyed skin repeatedly.
"Look I'm sorry that you have to be here," Luke said quietly, Brooke looking at him surprised. He was sorry? What for?
"Why am I even here? What's so special about me?" Brooke asked confused, hissing as Luke rubbed the cloth over a particularly painful cut on her ankle. He looked up at her apologetically, rubbing gently this time.
"Sorry." Luke apologised, biting his lip in concentration, "I honestly can't tell you, Ashton just really has an interest in you." Luke shrugged with a sigh. Goddamnit, I was hoping he'd have answers for me. My head hurts from all the confusion and unanswered questions.
"Why don't you like me?" Brooke asked bluntly, staring directly into Luke's eyes and giving him an intense look.
"I do like you . . . . I'm just jealous Ashton can do what he wants and the rest of us can't, follow his every order." Luke huffed, finally looking up at Brooke and giving her a sad smile. Brooke noticed something poking out of his shirt and pulled her wrist out of Luke's hand. She pulled down his shirt lightly to see a large scar, her eyebrows furrowed as her fingertips ran lightly over it.
"What's that from?" Brooke asked as Luke bit his lip to stop himself from snapping at her for touching the wound. Seems it's a tough spot for him.
He sighed, "It's a gunshot wound." He bit softly, keeping his anger in as best as he could. Brooke noticed the change in his demeanour, the anger surfacing. So she pulled back and apologised, looking away from him.
"No I'm sorry, I shouldn't be mad at you for asking." Luke sighed before finally finishing healing her cuts, which Brooke thanked him for. The injured areas were tender but were now clean, this made her feel somewhat better. At least they wouldn't get infected now, hopefully, she could take a shower or something soon.
"Ashton wants to see you by the way." Brooke nodded sighing and stood up, hissing as she started to walk. Luke grabbed her and helped her to the door, from there Brooke said she could do it herself but before she walked to Ashton's office, she turned back to Luke and looked into his eyes. She was thankful for his help and slight vulnerability.
"Don't worry Luke, you'll make your own choices soon. You got to stand your ground." Brooke sighed and offered him a small smile before walking away, not giving him a second glance, Luke watching her astounded.
