Isadora's POV:
Mrs. Grant walked in shutting up Antonia and Adri, who were giggling and whispering about my conversation with Blake. History was usually my favorite subject, but the class just dragged on. It could have not felt any longer. I could feel Blake's eyes on me, staring at my back.Mrs. Grant kept talking endlessly, it seemed the bell would never ring. I looked over to the clock, for what seemed for like the hundredth time, 11:59. One minute. It was the longest minute ever.
Finally the bell rang, I picked up my stuff and booked it out the door. Next period was lunch, thank God. I stopped at my locker to get my things for the second part of the day. Periods four, five, and six. I shut my locker, but before I could even take a step Caleb jumped in front of me. I rammed into him, and ,in the process, dropped all my books.
"Caleb Callister! That's the third time this week! Your picking up my stuff." I said crossing my arms.
"Calm down Isadora!" He said laughing. He bent down and picked up all the books he knocked out of my hands.
When he stood back up he had all my books in a sloppy mess. Rolling my eyes I took my books back.
"You're going to lunch right?" He asked.
I nodded and gave him a suspicious look. "Why?"
"Oh nothing. There's just someone I want you to meet," He said grabbing my hand and dragging me to the lunch room.
When we got there I grabbed my lunch box and headed to our table where we all sit. Caleb let go of my arm and went to greet my brother, Abner. I walked to the table and sat down in my usual seat.
"Hey," said an unfamiliar voice.
I looked over to where Antonia should of been sitting. Instead, sitting there was Blake. They were trying too hard to get me a boyfriend.
"How much did they pay you to sit here?" I asked laughing under my breath.
He laughed a whole heartedly. It was deep. The kind any girl would fall in love with. Except me.
We sat in silence the whole time, with nothing but the other kids to make it less awkward. My lunch is over at 12:20 but it was only 12:10.
"Hey, um, Is, can I talk to you? You know over here?" Said Antonia tilting her head to an empty table.
Half smiling, I got up and headed to the table.
"Ok, this lunch could not get anymore awkward. I mean you could at least talk to the guy," she said.
I raised my eyebrows, and simply said, "no."
Antonia's shoulders shrank and she scowled at me. "You know he really likes you. I can see it in his eyes. The way he looks at you, talks to you, and for heavens sake he stared at you all of history!"
I was getting extremely annoyed at this point. I stared her down for what seemed like eternity. Finally I broke the silence, "I don't care. You know why I don't date. You know the story, and you know why I down dress myself. But it never works, does it?" Tears were streaming down my face. "The last thing I need is to get my heartbroken."
"Isadora, I forgot. I'm sor-"
"Don't" I said. Tears were pouring down my face. I turned away from her and threw my red hair in my face. I practically ran out of the lunch room, but no one seemed to notice.
