"Dinner is ready!" I heard my mom yell from downstairs.
"Here we come!" King and I yelled in unison with our eyes still glued to the tv. We were playing 2K20 and we had bet $50. There were 2 minutes left on the clock and King was down 6. I was surprised I managed to get ahead. I wasn't really a gamer the only time I play the game is when I'm staying the night here.
"Yo ass is garbage" I said as I shot a 3 pointer.
"Brick" He retorted as the ball bounced off the rim.
"Fuck!" I exclaimed.
"King and Paris come eat!" My mom yelled out again. We both could hear her loud and clear but we were too focused to pause the game. It was only 1 minute left on the clock and I wasn't trying to lose $50.
"That's a foul!" King shouted. There was only a second left in the clock and I was down 2 points.
"Ugh!"
He made both free throws and the buzzer went off before I could even get the ball. "I take cash, quickpay, and cash app " King smiles tossing his remote to the side.
"King and Paris!" My dad yells with some bass in his voice.
"Coming!" We said at the time and walked out of the room. As we walked down the stairs I opened the Chase app on my phone to quickpay him his money.
"You got 5 stacks?" King says looking over my shoulder as we walked down the stairs.
"Boy" I exclaimed quickly turning down my brightness.
"You might as well send me a whole hunnid"
"Stop pocket watching" I laugh as we walked into the kitchen.
"So y'all didn't hear me calling y'all name?" My mom frowns from the dinner table.
"The tv was up too loud my fault" King lies and sits down at the table beside Lyric.
"Mmmh the food looks good ma" I smile to myself as I sat down at the table. My mouth watered as I looked at the plate sitting in front of me.

I grabbed my fork and immediately dug in. It's been a while since I've had one of my mom's home cooked meals. I've been thinking about my next plate of soul food since I ate my last one.
"So how's school been Paris?" My mom asks before taking a sip from her glass.
"It's fine. A lot of work but nothing I can't handle" I replied before stuffing my mouth with cornbread.
"Your scholarships still covering everything?" She followed up.
I nodded my head yes and continued eating my food. Those scholarships I had in the beginning didn't get renewed for my second year in college. I never told them that though. I eventually started paying off my own tuition with my OnlyFans checks.
