Chapter 12
Wednesday
Another school day and I'm tired. My lunch breaks are now to be spent on the decorating of the hall for the school's anniversary and doing it Brad is not so bad. He doesn't talk much and frankly, I'm enjoying the silence.
The theme for the anniversary is black and silver. It's a nice color combo. We are are currently cutting ribbons for stream and bows. It's a hella stressful job but it takes my mind of my father, so, it's a welcomed adjustment.
I still haven't talked to Adrian and I think I never will. I somewhat pushed him away by keeping him in the dark. I just wish I had a normal life.
I miss my mum.
Silver Stakes anniversary is next week, other prestigious schools would be invited to grace the occasion. Things are being put in place.
After the anniversary, that's a week after is our mid-semester exams, after that a one week break before our main exams. I really need to talk to Adrian before we all leave this place. I could just text Mason to meet me so we could talk but my phone's activities are being monitored none other than my father.
"Kayla"
"Mm?" I turn to Brad.
"Can you hang these streamers at that end while I hang the bows." He said
"Sure."
I move towards that end of the hall and drag a ladder with me. I place the ladder carefully and start climbing. When I'm balanced on the ladder I began hanging the streamers oblivious to my surroundings.
"Kayla!!" I hear someone shriek before I land with a thud on the floor.
"Kayla, Kayla are you alright."
I open my eyes and I'm surrounded by student then I realize I fell from the ladder.
"Ow!!" I tried standing up but because I landed awkwardly on my arm, it hurts.
"Are you ok?" That was Mason.
"My arm hurts bad." I say.
"Here let's get you to the school's clinic." Mason leads me.
^^^^^
"You have a dislocated elbow. I'll just pop it back in and that would be all." The doctor said.
"Ok get ready this might hurt. I am going to do it on the count of three. Ready?" He said.
"Yes." I can already feel the pain.
"Ok I'll need you to relax your hands." The doctor said.
Mason was holding my other hand"3."
"2."
"Ahh!!! Jesus!!" I scream clutching my hand.
"All done miss." The doctor said smiling.
"You didn't even say 1." I mumbled angrily. He chuckles.
"I am very much aware of that. If I had counted completely you would have been expecting it and stiff you hand which could complicate things. I'll go get you pain killers."
I turn to Mason.
"How on earth did you fall?"he questions.
"I don't know."I reply.
"Hey, what's that stuck to you skirt?" I look at my uniform skirt and indeed there was a post-it note on my skirt.
I take it and read it.
'Don't play games with me, I'm smarter than you could ever be. I hope your fall wasn't so hard.
Take care my Angel.
PS Dad watches
My blood runs cold at this point. Mason snatches the paper and reads it. His eyes are now red with anger."Was he trying to kill you or what!?" Mason rants angrily failing to notice me hyperventilating, with tears streaming down my face.
"Woah Kayla calm down." He rushes to me and hugs me tightly. "You'll be fine. I'm here." He whispers.
"Ok here are– what is wrong?" The doctor enters.
"Oh-uh nothing, it's Just the pain..." Mason says quickly.
Doctor Martin chuckles
"I apologize for that and if it helps I brought you pain killers. This one those magic. Just don't overdose."
I wipe my tears, collect the drugs and rush out of doctor Martin's office. Mason hot on my trail.
"Kayla wait!!" He calls after me but I'm determined to get to my room.
"Stop." He breaths out. Placing his hands on my shoulder. "Stop running. You don't have to do it alone okay? I'm here for you." With that he hugs me tight. At this point, I realise I needed the hug. Badly.
"Thank you Mason." I whisper
