You and Amy have been married for several months now. And neither of you have ever been happier. During those several months, you and Amy went on all sorts of fun together, from hanging out with friends, to going on amusement rides together. Aw, yes. Life with your wife is the best. Could it possibly get any better?
You were working on your garden when you were visited by Amy. "Hi, honey. What are you doing?" she asked. "Oh, nothing. Just some garden work. Harvesting some plants, planting others, that kind of thing." you responded. She smiled. "Oh, that's nice. May I join you?" she asked. You turned around to see her adorable smile. "Please." you said.
Amy got into some gardening clothes, and started to plant some of her own plants into the garden. This was how your day went for quite some time. You didn't mind though. If there was anything you loved to do, it would be to spend time with your wife. But after a while, you realized something was...different. Amy wasn't as energetic as she usually was. She seemed...low.
Suddenly, Amy said "(Y/N), I don't feel so good." You looked at her worried, picked her up, and carried her to your bedroom. Believing her to be sick, you laid her on the bed, tucked her in, and brought a bucket if she had to throw up. You then immediately ran to the kitchen to make Amy some soup and tea to make her feel better. You grew increasingly worried whenever you heard retching noises coming from the bedroom.
You told Amy to get some rest, and just for safety, you decided to sleep on the couch that night. The following morning, you replenished everything so that in case it continued to occur. This cycle continued on for 2 weeks.
At that point, you realized something was not right. You picked up Amy and carried her to Tails' workshop. You knocked on the door frantically until the two-tailed fox opened it. Tails looked at you concerned. "(Y/N)? What's wrong?" he asked as he saw you carrying Amy. "Amy has not been feeling well. She has been throwing up, dealing with major pains, etc. It's been going on for 2 weeks." Tails scratched his chin for a split second before heading to a specific area. He came back with a couple of pieces of supplies you'd find at a hospital. "I don't have a lot of experience in this area, but I do have an understanding of what I'm doing. Don't worry." Tails said reassuringly. He then gestured you to go outside and wait while he worked.
A couple of hours pass and you've heard nothing. Finally, Tails and Amy walk out, the pink hedgehog clutching her stomach. You looked at Tails with a concerned face. "Is she going to be alright?" you asked, your voice full of worry. "Don't worry, (Y/N). She's not ill." the two-tailed fox replied. Amy whispered something to Tails. He nodded to her, and she looked back at you. "Something wonderful has happened. (Y/N), I'm pregnant." she said, with a big smile on her face.
That word just echoed throughout your head. The only word that came out of your mouth was "What?" Tails spoke up, "Amy is carrying twins. A couple of months into development." You walked up to Amy slowly. "Amy?" you asked. "Yes, (Y/N)?" she replied. "Do you know what this means?" you asked her. And her smile grew even wider. "Yes," she squealed. And right on cue, the two of you said in the happiest tone possible, "We're going to be parents." You looked at Amy and gently hugged her, not wanting her to get hurt.
But then, you realized something. You realized that several months from then, when the twins were born, Amy would have to go through excruciating pain to do so. The last thing you ever wanted to do was hurt the one you loved, but thanks to you, that was inevitable. Your smile turned to a sad expression, and collapsed onto your knees as you started to sob. Amy looked at you worried. "What's wrong, sweetie?" she asked. You looked up to her, tears building in your eyes. "Please forgive me, Amy." you cried. Amy put her hand on your head. "Calm down, (Y/N). You did nothing wrong." she told you.
"You don't understand," you replied. "I promised myself to never hurt the one I truly loved. But now because of me, the birth of the twins will cause you immense pain." Your sobbing grew uncontrollable. Amy now understood your sadness. She knelt down to face you, and lifted your head to face her. "Look at me, (Y/N). It's okay." she said with love in her eyes. "Really?" you asked. She smiled. "Yes, really. Listen, I know that you never meant to hurt me. I understand you feel this is your fault. But I don't care. The pain won't matter. In the end, it will be completely worth it, and we'll be parenting two gorgeous bundles of joy."
Her words warmed your heart, and you wiped the tears from her eyes, and gently hugged her again. "Thank you, Amy. I promise you, I will be the best father our hedgie babies ever had." Amy smiled at you. "I know you will." she said.
