The Time Has Come

You, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Sticks were trying to come up with a plan to beat Shadow and rescue Amy. The situation was much more urgent because none of you were 100% sure how close she was to the labor stages of childbirth. Tails stated that due to her development, the twins will be born either in the next few weeks,...or within the next 24 hours. Such a statement reinforced the urgency of the matter to you. "Okay. First question of the matter: Is this a solo act of terror? Or is Eggman somehow involved in this debacle?" you asked. Tails looked at you. "Only one way to find out." he said.

Sonic kicked the door to Eggman's base open, fury in his eyes. "Alright, Egghead. The jig is up. Release Amy, or someone is going to get hurt." he yelled. "Sonic. This is not what I was talking about. I meant just ask him if he knew anything." Tails said, with annoyance in his voice. Eggman, completely oblivious of the Amy situation, walks in with a cup of cocoa. His expression turned slightly sour at the sight of his arch-nemesis, but not completely sour since you were there. "Oh, it's you. What do you want, hedgehog?" You ran towards the doctor, full of panic in your face, grabbed his arms, and started shaking him violently. "EGGMAN. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!!!! WHERE'S AMY??!?!?!??!" you screamed. "Ok. Whoa whoa whoa whoa (Y/N). Calm down." Tails said, pulling you back. You took several breaths, and slowly calmed down. But stress could still be seen in your eyes, so Eggman knew something was very wrong. "(Y/N). What's wrong?" the doctor asked you.

"So, that's what happened." you told Eggman, with shaking in your voice. Eggman was thinking for a few seconds, before he answered. "Well, I can tell you sincerely that I was not involved in your wife's kidnapping, (Y/N)." You looked to Sonic with clear signs of annoyance after hearing Eggman's input. "See Sonic? I told you to NOT jump to conclusions." you grunted at him. He nervously smiled before scratching the back of his head. Eggman continued, "Besides, Shadow no longer does work with me; especially after the disastrous villain team-up at the end of Season 1."

With that input, you, Sonic, and the others left the building. But before you left, you gave Eggman $150. "Sorry about the door." you told him. He shrugged it off. "It wasn't your fault, (Y/N). The one to apologize is that annoying blue rat." you made a subtle eye roll at Eggman's insult, before leaving to prepare for the fight with Shadow.

*five minutes later*

Shadow was getting impatient. "Where are those pests? They should be here by now." he angrily spoke. Amy smirked. "My friends are too smart for your games, Shadow." she bragged. Shadow grew angry, ran towards Amy, and started to choke her. "SILENCE! Any more thoughts like that, and you won't live to see your husband again." he yelled at her. "PUT HER DOWN, SHADOW!" a voice yelled. Shadow let go of Amy, who is struggling to regain her breath, as the black and red hedgehog stared at his challenger.

There you stood, with Sonic and the others by your side. Your eyes filled with fiery passion and anger. You were dressed in your protective armor, and your energy sword was drawn. "You must be (Y/N). I've been looking forward to meeting you." Shadow said. You gritted your teeth in rage. "You guess correctly, Shadow. I wish I could say the same." you replied. You and Shadow just stood there, staring each other down. You continued your threatening. "Shadow, you have captured my wife. Especially when labor is around the corner. What kind of a sick animal do you think you are? Capturing a pregnant woman?" You firmly gripped your sword.

"Spare me your pitiful threats, (Y/N). I will destroy Sonic and his friends, even if it means killing unborn children. And there is nothing you can do to stop me." Shadow growled at the (f/c) hedgehog that stood before him. You were no longer having it. You ran towards him and slashed at him with your sword. But Shadow was prepared; he teleported as soon as the sword slashed through. But the sword cut through the ropes that held Amy, freeing her. 

Now freed, Amy tries to join the battle, but her movement was far too limited because she began to feel sharp pains in her stomach. She started to groan in discomfort as the pain got worse, to the point where she was on her knees, clutching her belly tightly. Sonic spin-dashed towards Shadow, who also spin-dashed towards him. The result was a 10-second stalemate as flashes of blue and red light continuously bumped into each other.

However, Shadow's consistent attack on Sonic made him distracted. Tails took his wrench, and he and Knuckles charged towards Shadow. The combined impact didn't knock out Shadow, but it left him disoriented and dizzy. This bought you some time causing you and Sonic to punch Shadow square in the face with all your might. He falls on the floor. You pick up Amy bridal style, and the group leaves the cave. "This isn't over, Sonic. We will fight again." Shadow groaned before passing out.

You looked at Amy, who was groaning with pain. You were worried that Shadow had wounded her. "Amy, are you okay? Did Shadow hurt you?" you said, tears in her eyes. Amy noticed your worrisome expression and wiped your tears with her thumb. "Don't worry, (Y/N). Shadow didn't hurt me too badly. But..." she was cut off when she started to feel a sharp pain, and started screaming. You started to panic. "Amy, is that what I think it is???" 

"The time has come. T-The babies are coming."
