Baby Shower

Upon the wonderful revelation that you and Amy were having kids, you were both ecstatic. You decided to gather the others together and tell them the good news. Neither of you were ready to do it right now; there were still things that needed to be prepared. You needed to build a room or rooms for the children, for one thing. You decided to wait until next week to tell everyone. 

*one week later*

The day had finally come for you and Amy to announce her pregnancy to your friends. You were the one to call the others. "Hey, (Y/N). What's up?" Sonic asked. "Hey, Sonic." you greeted. "Do you mind gathering the others and visiting us? We have something rather important to discuss." Sonic was silent for a while before answering, "We'll be right there." 

Technically, you didn't expect anyone else to figure it out before the two of you would say it; Amy's stomach hadn't really formed a bulge yet, and Tails was the only other one who knew about the pregnancy. But it was a little bit swollen, and you felt someone would notice. But anyway, you and Amy were reading a book when there was a knock on the door. You opened it and Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Sticks were waiting there. "Welcome, everyone. Come in." you greeted. You sat down next to Amy, holding her hand, and the others sat down on the couch facing you.

"So, what do you want to talk about, (Y/N)?" Sonic asked. You looked at Amy, she nodded, and you looked back towards the others. "Well, Amy was feeling rather sick for a couple of weeks. And it was rather concerning, so we went to Tails to see if he could help us." you said. Amy finished the statement. "And Tails found out...I'm pregnant." Sonic's jaw dropped as he was shocked of such news, and so did the others.

"So, what you're telling us is..." Sonic started, but Knuckles interrupted. "You let Tails in on a secret. Why wasn't I told this?" You and everyone else facepalmed. 'He's a dunce, but a lovable one.' you thought to yourself. "No, Knux. He's saying that he and Amy are going to have kids." Sonic said. You nodded at him. "And you know what that makes all of you, Uncle Sonic." Sonic caught on, and said. "I see what you did there." But Knuckles, being the simple-minded person he was didn't get the pun. "I didn't. What am I seeing?" he asked. Everyone laughed. After a long period of mostly silence, Tails finally spoke up. "When are you going to have your baby shower?" he asked. You and Amy looked at each other. The two of you didn't think about that. "To be honest, we don't know." you said. Amy spoke up. "Is next month okay with you?" she asked. Everyone nodded. "Yeah, it's okay. If Egghead doesn't ruin it." Sonic said. So you were all in agreement. You were having a baby shower 1 month from then.

*1 month later*

At last it was time for the baby shower. You finished renovating the house adding the new room for the children. You seemed ready for it. You looked at your watch. It was 7:30 PM. It was time for you and Amy to go for the baby shower. You decided since there wasn't a proper place in town to have the shower (no offense to the citizens of course), you and Amy agreed to have the baby shower hosted at Amy's old house. She decided to keep her old house for occasions like this. Sonic and the others were waiting for you, presents in hand. "Welcome everyone." you greeted them. Amy had a picnic basket in hand. She made some cake for the guests to make the baby shower more interesting. "Hi, guys." she said. "Look at the happy couple right there." Tails said with a smirk on his face.

You all went into the house. Amy opened her picnic basket, and put the cake on the table. Along with some ham and salads (A/N: don't ask why). Sonic and the others took their presents and put them in a corner. They will be opened last. Afterwards, the 6 of you sat down in your chairs and began to eat. You were surprised to see how well the guests took the dinner you and Amy made; of course, they all loved the ham, you made it, but they all enjoyed the salad as well. Truly Amy is a miracle chef. "This is fantastic. Thanks so much guys." Sonic said, as he took another bite of ham. "No problem." Amy said. You nodded as well. 

While you were all eating dinner, you heard a knock on the door. You opened the door, and were surprised to see Eggman waiting. "Hello, Eggman." you greeted politely. "I hear you and Amy are having a child." he said. You looked at him awkwardly. "Look, I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. It's just a lot of things have been going on, and I didn't have the time to-" Eggman handed you a present. "Don't worry about it. Have a nice baby shower." he said, smiling before leaving. You were slightly confused by what just happened, but you still appreciated the kind gesture. 

After you finished your meals, the time had come for the others to present their gifts to you and Amy. Sticks was the first one to offer a present. You and Amy opened it. It was a doll. It was a little dirty, but it was otherwise nice. "This is really nice." you said. "Thanks, Sticks." Amy said. And the badger smiled. "Anything for my best friend." she said.

The same basic thing happened with the others. The next person to give you and Amy his present was Knuckles. You opened the present, and inside the box was a small dumbbell. You and Amy looked at Knuckles with puzzled expressions. He himself had a nervous face, hoping you would like it. "Well, it's...different. But it's a kind gesture nonetheless. Thank you, Knuckles." you said. He sighed with relief and gave you a thumbs up, which you gladly returned.

Tails was the next one to give a present. However, Tails gave out 2 presents. You looked at them. Amy took one present, and you took the other. You both opened the presents. In Amy's box was a chandelier of molded glass panes (A/N: I wasn't sure what the thing was called. Something that helps babies sleep in the crib). In your box was, of course, 2 baby bottles. You both smiled at these presents, and then at Tails, who had an adorable smile on his face. "Thank you very much, Tails. We greatly appreciate these very kind gestures." He nodded at your compliment.

Afterwards was Sonic, who had a big smile on his face as he presented his gift. It was a big gift, and you were chuckling in curiosity. You opened it and it was a crib. "Sonic, it's perfect." you exclaimed. "Aw, shucks." he said. "How'd you do it?" Amy asked Sonic. "Well, it wasn't that hard. It wasn't that expensive to begin with. Like $20 or so." he said, while rubbing the back of his head. You gave him a fist bump. "Thank you so much." you told your blue friend. He gave you a thumbs up. "Anytime, (Y/N). Anytime."

Amy looked at the last gift from Eggman. You were about to open it when Amy stopped you. "Wait, (Y/N). What if Eggman booby trapped it?" she asked with a worried look. You looked at her with an amused expression. "Amy hun, you need to learn to not use that kind of language in public." you said slyly. Everyone laughed at your joke, except Amy, who wasn't amused. After you finished laughing, you told your wife, "But seriously, I doubt that he would ruin something so important to us like this." Sonic stepped in. "It's strange to say it IN THIS CASE, but (Y/N)'s right. Egghead had every opportunity to crash your wedding, Amy. But did he? I don't know why, but he seems less of a jerk than he was before. Sure he's still an evil genius and all, but he seems to be more kind when (Y/N)'s around."

Amy looked back at you and sighs, "Okay. If you trust Eggman's gift, then I trust you." she said. You then opened it, and there was a box with a red button on it. You pushed it, and it folded into another crib. It had everything necessary for a baby's perfect sleep. And there was yet another box in it. A Jack-in-the-Box, if you will. You turned the knob around, and a tune played, and a clown popped out of it, just as you expected. "See? Nothing. Just a harmless joke box, in a crib." you reassured Amy. She hugged you and gave you a peck on the cheek. 

After the party ended, Sonic and the others helped you get the items to your house so you could put them in the baby's room. And since Eggman wasn't at the party, you decided to write him a thank-you letter:

Dear Eggman,

Thank you for your gift. I really appreciate it. It was sad that you didn't want to join us for dinner, but the thought was nice. You've shown that even an evil genius can have a heart.
