"Damon," Christian greets with a forced smile

"Damon," Christian greets with a forced smile. Damon smirks and raises his glass towards his younger brother while sitting in a chair in the corner of Christian's new home.

Slowly, Christian closes the door to his home and turns on the lights. Damon watches him while sipping on the bourbon he had found in one of Christian's cupboards.

Christian sets his things off to the side and slides off his suit jacket. He rolls up his sleeves while approaching his brother. He picks up a whiskey glass and pours himself a drink.

"What brings you to Boston?" Christian asks while lifting the glass to his lips.

"I should be asking you that," Damon says looking up at him. "You're the one who packed everything in the middle of the night and ran without saying goodbye,"

"Oh, don't tell me I hurt your precious feelings" Christian rolls his eyes.

"Not mine," Damon shrugs. "And before you ask, you didn't hurt Stefan's feelings either," He adds. Christian quickly drowns the rest of his drink. "Running away and completely cutting off all communication with Jeremy, bit of a dick move" Damon shrugs.

"He's the one who broke up with me," Christian snapped. "What did he expect? Me to stay in the same town as two of my ex's?" Christian laughs humorlessly. "No, thank you,"

"Why'd you give up on him so easily?" Damon asks curiously. "You two were attached to the hip one second and the next you're leaving town without a single word for two months"

"That's my business, not yours" Christian growls at him. Damon shrugs rolling his eyes. "What are you doing here Damon? You don't care enough about my love life to make the trip to Boston, what shit show are you stuck in that you need me to bail you out of now?" Christian smirks plopping into the seat across from him.

"For once, I'm not the one stuck in shit" Damon smirks. Christian frowns his eyebrows. "A lot of things have changed these last few months, baby bro"

"Oh, yeah? And what's happened?" Christian asks.

"Well, Klaus came to town" Christian tenses at the name. "He's a hybrid, half vampire half werewolf" Damon informs him. "He had to do some freaky ritual to become the hybrid which resulted in Elena's death but we found a loophole. I got bit by a werewolf and was on my death bed,"

"Look pretty alive to me," Christian comments refilling both of their drinks.

"Thanks to our younger brother for getting me the cure" Damon tells him. "But not without a price," Christian motions for him to continue. "Stefan's being forced to follow Klaus around like a lost puppy for the last few months in return for the cure to save me,"

"How noble" Christian says sarcastically. "I'd of let you rot" Christian smirks slightly. Damon grins as well. "Let me guess, you came here hoping that I'd help you save our dear brother,"

"More or less" Damon shrugs. Christian slowly nods sipping on his drink.

"No," Christian says simply. Damon frowns his eyebrows.

"No?" Damon asks and Christian nods.

"No," Christian repeats. "I don't know much about Klaus but he isn't someone I want to get involved with, not even remotely. I don't want to get involved in your drama again,"

"This isn't drama, this is our brother" Damon snapped.

"Yeah, and what has our brother ever done for me?" Christian snapped.

"He stuck by you every day when you were struggling to keep your humanity on," Damon reminds Christian. "He was there when you needed him but you won't be there when he needs you?"

"Where was he when Noah dragged me out of the house and into the woods?" Christian asks leaning towards him. "Why did he just stand there when I begged for him to help me? Or how about the time when Noah nearly beat me to death in the garden and he watched from the window? I can go on, Damon" Christian spat. "I think we're fucking even by now, I don't owe Stefan shit"

Christian glares at Damon for another moment before finishing his drink and standing up. Damon doesn't say anything, he simply sits there as he's bombarded with memories of their human life. Damon's just as guilty for ignoring what had been happening to Christian as Stefan is.

"Ok, fine, nobody owes anybody" Damon stands up and faces Christian. "But that doesn't stop the fact that he's still our brother and he needs help,"

"Well, then it's a good thing he has you," Christian turns to him. "Ever since we were kids, even as we lived as vampires, it's always been Stefan and Damon. I was only ever involved if you two were in deep shit or wanted my help to get back at each other. When was the last time you did something for me because you were my brother and you wanted to help? When was the last time you wanted to spend time with me or visit one of my clubs?"

"Ok, fine, Stefan and I aren't winning any 'brother-of-the-year-awards' but-"

"But nothing," Christian cuts him off. "You want to help Stefan, be my guest. When it's all said and done you can celebrate our brothers new found freedom at my Orlando Club with drinks on the house," Christian offers him with a grin.

"How generous" Damon says sarcastically.

"I'm a generous man" Christian shrugs. "Happy hunting" Christian nods to him before disappearing deeper into the house. Damon sighs and slowly leaves.

Christian closes his eyes and leans against a wall in the hallway. He hadn't expected either of his brothers to find him so easily but at the same time, he wasn't exactly hiding.

A few days after Jeremy broke up with him, Christian packed his things and left Mystic Falls. There was nothing keeping him there and he wasn't interested in the 'Stefan-Elena-Damon' drama. He also didn't feel like facing Elijah again nor did he want to face Jeremy.

He ran to Boston. It didn't take him long to convince himself to begin planning and building another club. The preparation took up all of his attention. It left him little to no time to worry or focus on his problems.

Of course, at night before he would fall asleep his mind would be filled with thoughts. Thoughts that no matter how hard Christian tried, he couldn't ignore them.

He thought about Jeremy, he thought about him a lot. He wished Jeremy was with him and regretted how he left Mystic Falls. However, within the few days between his decision to leave and the break up with Jeremy, Katherine's words plagued his mind.

He slowly began to believe that he didn't deserve Jeremy. Christian had too much baggage, too much damage, and too much danger following him around for him to be with Jeremy.

The two could try all they wanted to make it work, and maybe it would have, but not without severe consequences. Jeremy was bound to get hurt, change for the worse while around Christian. Christian didn't want to be the one to damage Jeremy but that didn't stop him from yearning for him, from craving for him.

When Christian wasn't thinking about Jeremy, he thought about Elijah. He was relieved, yet mildly disappointed, that Elijah hadn't followed him to Boston. His words also plagued his mind. He hated the fact that he could understand why Elijah had done the things he'd done but Christian wondered if he'd ever be able to trust him again.

If Christian were to give him a second chance would Elijah leave him again at the first sign of danger? Would Elijah choose his family over Christian again? Would Christian ever be a priority to Elijah?

Christian dreamed of a world where he and Elijah lived happily ever after. He dreamed of a world where Elijah didn't feel so much obligation towards his siblings and more obligation to himself. But that was a fantasy and Christian doubted it would ever come true.
