Maddie-

Kalani was nervous, it was quite obvious. She kept looking over at me and playing with the end of her hair.

"All you have to do is ignore her. And then sit next to Mark. That's all." I said.

She nodded and we stopped at the crossroads.

"Good luck." I smiled.

"Thanks. See you at lunch." She walked off and I walked the other way.

I hated thinking this more than anything, but I was actually enjoying Kalani's company. It was so cliche, the way I had fake befriended her and then grew to like her.

Maybe it was just because she was obeying me without any struggle, which I tended to enjoy.

I was forcing her to turn against her friends. I was going to ruin her friendships, Oh shut up Maddie. I grunted out loud. Isn't that the point? To ruin Kendall and Nia, to make sure no one would question my authority again. I hadn't really thought of how it would effect Kalani.

I was physically grossing myself out.

She was a pawn in my plan. She was just a necessary part. Nothing more. Nothing less.

But, what if I was doing her a favor? Kendall and Nia didn't really seem to like her that much, so I reassured myself that I was only going to use her until I needed her and then I'd rely on Chloe and Paige to take it from there.

I took a deep breath and walked into my math class. This drama would have to wait. For now, it was up to Kalani to deal with Nia.

kalani's pov

As I walked to english I swore my arms had never shaken this much in my life. I stood outside the classroom and took a deep breath.

new coat of confidence.

I put a smile on my face and walked inside to find Mark sitting alone at his table and Nia at hers. I quickly averted my eyes from Nia and walked towards Mark.

"Mind if I sit here?" I asked him as I approached him.

"Uh, yeah go ahead." He looked up at me and I put my bag down. Nia's desk was diagonally in front of me on the other side of the class, and I could see her looking at me.

"This is probably really random, I mean I've only ever talked to you, like, once-"

"Don't worry, Paige talked to me. You are trying to get 'back' at Kendall, right?" He cut me off and sunk into his seat.

"Oh great. And I didn't really catch the drift on why we were getting 'back' and Kendall, did you guys break up?" I asked.

"Yeah, last night."

I gave him a confused look.

"If you don't mind me asking, what happened?"

He sighed. "I was actually trying to find a way to break up with her for a while. We were at the park and Kendall posted a picture of us on my Instagram, and when Maddie liked it I thought that was suspicious because she has never done that before. It was weirder when she showed up at the park and flung mud at Kendall, blaming her for doing something stupid at school and I guess Nia dumped her smoothie on Paige," He paused and looked in Nia's direction.

"Anyways, Maddie has always been cool to me and my friends so I used it as an excuse to break up with her. Kind of shallow, and I guess you are Kendall's spy to come talk to me, right? Or are you on Maddie's side now?" Mark looked at me and raised his eyebrows.
