Maddie-

I walked away from Tommy feeling accomplished. I hoped they didn't talk to each other until I pushed Kalani out of our group. But at the same time, a small part of me wanted Tommy to talk to Kalani because I wanted to still be 'friends' with her long enough to make kendall pay. And so far, we had enough information about Kendall as we started with.

I texted Chloe that we needed to go so we wouldn't have to face Kalani. She said okay, and I met up with Paige behind the corner.

"I actually like Kalani, I think she could join our group." Paige said as we say down on a bench.

"Hell no. I don't really like her." I quickly snapped back.

Paige raised her eyebrows and put her hands up in surrender.

"Sorry, it just seemed like you guys were getting alone at lunch, so I though-"

"No, it's called acting." I rolled my eyes as Josh's annoying voice echoes through my head. you're going soft.

I bit my cheek so hard I think it started to bleed. I saw my ride wave his hand and I stood up.

"Josh is at his car." I sighed and Paige stood up with me. Chloe ran up behind us and whispered to Paige. We walked to his car and I hopped in the back. Paige went shot gun and Josh rolled his eyes and started the car.

"Where are we going?" Josh asked and I took the flask out of my bag.

"Anywhere but home," I mumbled and tipped my head back.

"Hey, if you are going to drink in my car then let me have some." Josh turned around and I smacked his hand.

"Not if you're driving."

He groaned and started the car.

My phone buzzed. It was my mom.

She was asking if I had a ride home. I didn't reply. If she was asking then that meant I hope you have a ride home because I can't pick you up.

I nearly threw my phone across the car in annoyance but I didn't because I was too busy focusing on the fact that we almost ran Kalani over.

"Whoa," Josh slammed the breaks and my silver escape fell out of my hand and flew forward and hit the dashboard.

I giggled and Josh threw it at me. Chloe ducked down and Paige waved to Kalani, but she didn't see us, she was looking at her phone.

I leaned back and ruffled my hair. Josh rolled down the windows and turned up the music really loud. I felt invincible.

We drove to the shopping center near our school where Josh wanted to get a pack of cigarettes. We walked around our normal route laughing about random things and I finally got Paige and Chloe to take a drink. We sat in a small alleyway and talked for an hour until Josh came by with a group of guys who followed him near us.

They sat with us and blew smoke in our faces and we made small talk until Chloe almost threw up so we decided to go home.

I said bye to the boy I had been flirting with and as we walked away I turned and winked. As we piled in the car, I could still smell the scent of them in my hair, I'd have to shower when I got home.

We soon neared Chloe's corner so she got out and I waved bye. She waved by to Josh, not me.

My eyes were going to fall out of their sockets because I was rolling my eyes so much. Paige asked if I wanted to go home.

"No. I never want to go home. But I have to, so take me." I groaned.

We neared my house and Josh abruptly stopped, causing me to lunge forward almost dislocating his neck from grabbing it.

"Ow." He remarked and I rolled his head to the side with my skinny hand.

"Maybe you should learn to drive better." I hopped out of the car grabbing my bag by the strap and dragging it on the ground to my front door.

"Bye Mads." Paige called and I sent her the finger without turning around.

"Bye loser."

I think I only did it because Josh was there though.

I listened to the screech of the car slid away and I stood on the front step of the medium sized house that should be painted red and black. Because those are the colors of hell, right?

Instead of going through the front door, I went around to the side to see the window open. I mentally thanked my sister for helping me.

I tossed my bag into the window and it landed next to Kenz's and listened to see if my mom was home. She was, I could hear her voice talking to someone on the phone.

I then went around to the back and climbed up the shed using the conveniently placed ladder and walked on the top to get to the window in the hall, it was open.

I climbed through it just in time, mom was coming upstairs. I closed the window and ran to my room and shut the door. It was 5 o clock. I sprawled myself across my bed and pretended to be on my phone when my mom knocked.

"Sorry that took so long. Did you finish your homework?" She asked.

I nodded without looking up.

"Don't forget about this dinner tonight. It's a big deal, I've been seeing this guy for almost a year now."

Oh shit, I forgot. I didn't want to meet my mom's boyfriend, or his stupid family.

"Madison?" She sounded serious but I didn't care.

"What mom?" I snapped.

"Don't blow this for me."

Was she serious? I wanted to blow up. But I just rolled my eyes again.

"Get out of my room." I said quietly with anger in my tone. She closed the door and I picked up my pillow and chucked it as hard as I could against the door.

And I started to cry. I didn't know why, but it felt good. And then I was angry at myself for crying over my mom. So what if she thinks it's my fault that she can't get a good boyfriend? If she couldn't see that then she was obviously stupid.

But that was what I was going to deal with, having a stupid mother, and there was nothing I could do about it.

The last thing I wanted was to live my life right now.
