Jake POV
"Fuck I do not want to go to practice tonight, coach has been on one these last practices," Ethan huffs. I can't help but agree. I swear coach's new goal is to end every practice with us wanting to quit.
"Hey what's up with little Drake. She was super distant and moody today in homeroom. We literally had the period to just chill and talk and she just sat there staring at her desk. It was fucking wild that she did not make a joke once," Ben asks Ethan.
"I don't know. She was weird today too. Maybe it's her period or some girl shit," Ethan mumbles thoughtfully.
"Gross," Ben shrugs.
I don't know Sam that much. I moved here at the end of last year so we have not really interacted. I was kind of shocked when she bought all that food yesterday, well I guess I bought it. Jesus that girl can eat, she got like twice what I did. I may have watched her during lunch to see if she'd eat the entire thing. I did not believe that someone who looked like her could eat like that. I was damn wrong.
From the little interaction we've had, I can't really imagine that chick being moody. I mean, even when Bailey is being Bailey she takes it like a champ and dishes it back with a smile. It is honestly unnerving. As we walk into the lunchroom I see Sam at our table again just standing there.
"Rough night," I hear her mumble. She does look rough. I mean she always looks beautiful but she just seems tired and worn down.
Ethan brings me out of my thoughts. "Hey sis, what are you doing?"
"I am just here to payback Jake," I hear her say. She finally looks over to me no smile. I just look at the money and roll my eyes, does she not know how wealthy my parents are.
"Periods must be strong," I mumble to Ben. He nods his head in agreement.
"Hey, Jake take the damn thing," I hear her huff. She looks pretty agitated tapping her foot all puffed up, it is honestly kind of cute. She looks so angsty yet adorable, like an angry puppy.
"You should take it. She was pretty moody in homeroom today," Ben distracts me from my admiring. I should probably stop staring. It is kind of weird. Also, she is unpredictable- she would probably call me out on it.
"Moody and done with your shit," she spits out. We all go silent and just look at her. That was unexpected. "Your British accent only softens me up so much sugar plum," she states after we just sit there. That seems to bring us all out of our shock.
"What if I pair it with a wink," He asks. Is he flirting with her? I did not know he liked her. Wait, why does it bother me that he's flirting with her. It is not like it will matter anyway. Word is she is a tough one to befriend and even tougher to date, some blame Ethan. I honestly think it is her from what I know. She blushes a little at his comment, it's cute. I don't like that he's flirting with her. I mean her brother is right there.
"Anyways. Here. Thank you for getting me out of a bind. I appreciate it." She sets the money in front of me and looks exhausted as she slumps her shoulders to leave. Damn. She must have had a rough night.
"What an attention-seeking bitch," Bailey adds. I should not be shocked, but I am. I mean she was just about to leave and if anything she did not want any attention. I am about snap when I hear Ethan practically threaten her.
"Watch your mouth, Bailey. You know damn well that you shouldn't be saying shit on that issue," Ethan hisses. Sam looks down at him and shakes her head and offers a small forced smile.
"Thanks again for the food," she tells me. I want to ask her what is wrong but I feel like that would be weird since we don't really know each other. Maybe I can ask her during class today, less people around less weird right? I probably look like a fool just sitting here. As I am about to say something she turns to leave but is stopped by Ethan. I watch her tense. Is it weird to be watching someone this much? What am I doing?
