It was Christmas break. Remus, James, Sirius and Peter will be away from each other. Although, Sirius and James would be at the Potters' place, they'd still miss their two bestfriends. And James could JUST NOT bear with this. All of the last week of the term was a challenge for Sirius. He had to make sure that he'd be there with him. Right now in the Hogwarts Express they were making plans to run out of their houses and meet on New Year's Eve, but it was all for a laugh. In another hour or two the train began to slow down and the could see platform 9¾. As soon as Remus and Peter bade their goodbye Sirius saw Mr and Mrs Potter waiting waiting for the two of them. Once they reached home, they spent the rest of the evening eating mince pies and pound cake while retelling great stories of yet another term at Hogwarts. Mr. Potter enjoyed the stories and laughed loudly whereas Mrs. Potter gave a smile or two in between but was busy in giving James and him tiny pats on the back while maintaining a stern look. When at around 11 they finally left for bed James was pretty much back to normal. Sirius couldn't be happier when he was finally asleep. Slowly he too drifted off into a dreams full of boughs of holly, humungous ginger bread house and mistletoes.
Christmas morning was always the worst for Sirius. His parents didn't believe in Christmas and hadn't even sent a sock for the last three years. But when he woke up he was rather astounded to find a whole pile of gifts near his bed. He had got a "book" from James, on 100 Foolproof Pranks to pull. A hair kit with gel, combs and mousses from Remus, very thoughtful Moony. Atleast 10 homemade pie, cake and cookie boxes from Mrs. Potter and a pocket sneakoscope and foe glass from Mr. Potter? He couldn't help but smile when he saw that Mr. And Mrs. Potter had given him and James the same gifts. They really did love him like their own son. When he was getting out of his bed to change Sirius saw one last parcel lying near his bed. He was sure that he hadn't missed anyone except Lily who had given him the Zonko's gift bag on the last day of the term itself. He went ahead and opened the parcel  and there were a brand new set of robes from........ his brother, Regulus Arcustrus Black. He knew it because only Regulus knew that Sirius had wanted these. Before he had any more time to process this Mrs. Potter called them down to breakfast. So he had to drag James out of his bed who had already started eating one of his pies. Mrs. Potter had made the boys' favourite breakfast, Pancakes, chocolate waffles and to top it all up hot chocolate with those tiny muggle treats, marshmallows.
They spent the morning looking through old family pictures, which as James told him was family tradition. Sirius couldn't help but laugh at the teeny-tiny baby pictures of James. But whenever he looked at James, he could see that his heart wasn't in it. He was pretty sure that seeing the presents had reminded James of Moony and Wormtail. Sirius excused himself and wrote the same message on two pieces of parchments one addressed to the Pettigrew and the other to the Lupins, just when he was tying the letters inviting them to dinner to the owls he thought that he ought to ask Mrs. Potter for permission before he doubled the work for her. Well, she was more than happy to help Sirius is making James happy. And they all spent the rest of the day preparing the feast together, though James had no idea about the guests. As soon as the table was set there was a knock on the door, and in came the Lupins and the Pettigrew. After James got over all the excitement teh first thing that he did was big his three bestfriends. And that was the best Christmas of all of their lives.
