sorry about the confusion!!
[the beginning of this chapter is terrible but it gets better i promise <3]
FRANK WAS BITING his lip, praying the soft tissue wouldn't break as Gerard yawned into his chest. They had fallen asleep at around 3am, seeing as Gerard had to finish the work he had skipped out on by staying home with Frank. Frank hadn't gone to therapy either, so they quite literally did nothing all day which was something Frank usually hated, but Gerard just had a way of making everything nicer.
They had also developed a routine for the nighttime. Frank would accompany Gerard while he'd edit, they'd fall asleep together, and then Frank would wake him up at seven so he could get ready to leave for work. Frank had actually quite liked the routine, but Bob would be getting back the next day so Frank knew it was better for him not to get too attached.
Bob had also been calling quite regularly after his first few days in Chicago, and Frank discovered that it didn't matter where Bob was- he'd still worry way too fucking much about Frank anyway.
Frank stiffened when he felt Gerard shift so that his breaths were fanning his neck, goosebumps arising on the skin there.
"Why're you awake?" Gerard asked groggily as he spoke into Frank's shoulder.
Frank released his lip as he smiled weakly, "It's morning."
Gerard let out a soft groan, "Fuck capitalism. 'M not going to work today."
Frank laughed and shifted them slightly so he was in a more comfortable position. "We did that yesterday."
"Fine, take their side, asshole." Gerard grumbled as he pulled away from Frank and sat up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
Frank watched him carefully as Gerard stretched and glanced around the room, finally catching Frank's stare. He let out a small laugh, a confused smile adorning his lips.
"What?"
Frank shrugged, silent for a moment before he willed his mouth to move. "I was um, wondering something,"
Gerard raised an eyebrow but nodded, gesturing for him to continue.
"Did you maybe uh, want to go out tonight? Like... a date, sorta thing." Frank said, his eyes glued to Gerard's which seemed to fog over with delight.
He leaned down to peck Frank. "No."
"What?" Frank asked, his face now forged into a frown as he looked at Gerard who just giggled.
"Just kidding," He laughed, kissing Frank again, "You're so gullible, Frankie."
"Asshole." Frank muttered but Gerard just shrugged him off.
"Tired asshole." Gerard corrected as he crawled out of bed, Frank watching him once again with a small smile.
✩ ✩
When Frank looked up at Gerard's face, it wasn't the perfect features that he had dwelled on - not the gold flecked green eyes, nor the cherry pink lips. Instead it was small blemishes and shyness that he saw. The shy smile, the very slightly crooked tones of it. Frank felt like at that moment he had finally done something right in his life. He had finally found the person who was perfectly imperfect for him.
