Sapphire and Ruby Book 2

Part 1!!

Sapphire woke with a start. She hoped it was all a dream a bad dream. She hoped she was still in her bedroom back at the base but the dark green walls said otherwise. She clutched the blanket as tears welled up. Just then she heard a slight knock.

"Hey, Sapphire? You awake?" Crystal called.

"Yeah" she said quickly while wiping her eyes. Crystal entered with a platter of pancakes.

"Finally," Crystal chuckled, "it's been like 3 days since we left." She sat the pancakes down on the side table.

"Three?!"

"Mhm."

"Where's Ruby?! I have to see her!"

"Whoa! Hold on, Sapphire! Ruby is in the medic ward and she's stable for now. The only people allowed down there are Perry and Rose."

"I have to see her!"

"Sapphire, they won't let you."

"I have to..." her voice cracked and tears threatened to spill.

"I'll talk to them, okay?"

Sapphire nodded as she left. 

Sapphire put her hands over her face. "How am I supposed to just sit around and wait when she could be dying? I need to see her."  She started crying again. She curled up in a ball as sobs wretched her body.

A few hours later Crystal comes back to check on her. She was out cold with tear stains on her cheeks. Crystal covered her up with her blanket and took the pancakes back out. She then went to go talk to Rose. Earlier she had tried to find her but she was in the medical ward so they wouldn't let her talk to her. Rose was in the cockpit this time. Crystal pulled her aside. 

"Sapphire wants to see Ruby." She said firmly. 

Rose looked sad, "You know we can't let her see Ruby right now. Not in the shape she is in. We have her in stable condition but we're really just making her as comfortable as possible. She most likely won't make it. It's not looking good." 

"What am I supposed to tell her? You can't see Ruby because they think she's going to die? Because in my opinion that will make her want to see her more and that will make her desperate to see her before she does die." 

"Well, okay. I'll escort her tomorrow morning to see her, but just this once." 

"Yes ma'am." Crystal said and saluted her. 

"You may go, Crystal." Rose chuckled. 

Crystal headed back towards Sapphire's room.

Sapphire pulled the blanket up to her nose as tears threatened to fall again. Then she heard a knock. She sat up as Crystal came in. 

"I got good news, Sapphire." Crystal smiled.

"Oh? Can I see Ruby?!" 

"Tomorrow morning Rose is going to come get you so you can see Ruby." 

Sapphire started crying out of joy. She hugged Crystal. "Thank you so much!" 

"You're welcome." Sapphire stopped hugging Crystal and sat back down. "You want me to show you around the ship?" 

"Sure." 

They both got up and headed out to explore the ship. Sapphire saw the zoo where there was random animals. She wanted to free them but she couldn't right then. Next they saw the other bedrooms and such. Then, they went on to show the kitchen and mess hall. Last but not least, they saw the cockpit. It was filled with technology. 

"Hey, Crystal where is the medical wing?" 

"You'll find out tomorrow." 

"But I want you to show me." 

Crystal blushed a tiny bit. "Um! Okay, I can show you it!"

"Thank you." 

"Mhm!" Crystal nodded and showed the way. The medical wing was being guarded by a few soldiers and soldiers were down the halls too. 

"Whoa... It's almost like there are other creatures down there that are being protected." 

"I honestly don't know but I did hear screeches that sounded other worldly." 

"Let us not worry about it too much. I need to get some rest it must be late." 

"Right. I'll show you to your room." 

They went back to Sapphire's room. Sapphire wished Crystal goodnight and went to bed.
