The screen of Sunhee's phone lit up with an incoming call. She'd left it on silent on Junhui's counter while she lazed on the couch as Minghao was heating something up on the stove.
The night that she cried in Jungwoo's arms, he didn't let her pack up her stuff. After she calmed down, he took her straight to Junhui's house and insisted that she let someone else gather her things for her the next day. Sunhee complied and let him escort her to the car again.
It had been nearly a week since she and Jungwoo last spoke.
Her cellular device buzzed across the surface of the counter, which caught Minghao's attention as he transferred his stew from the pot to a bowl. He craned his neck to see the caller ID, but it didn't help him any so he gave up. "Hey, Sunnie, someone's calling you."
"Nnngh," She groaned lazily from the couch. The past few days were spent doing any combination of crying, zoning out, and eating. At first, It was more crying and zoning out, but she mellowed into a pattern of zoning out and eating by the end of it.
Right now, she was just zoning out, and not in any position to talk to other people. She was all out of social tokens. "Just let it ring, I'll check it later."
Minghao sighed at her response, putting his bowl down and looking at the back of the couch from the kitchen. He couldn't see her, but he still knit his brows from the tone in her voice.
He glanced at the phone that was on its last set of rings. With an exhale and a shake of his head, he swiped the device up off the counter and tapped the answering button. When he brought it up to his ear, he leaned against the counter and put his palm on the surface to steady himself. "Hello?"
"Oh, hi, is this Jung Sunhee's phone?"
"Yes it is, who is this?"
"Kim Jungwoo. Is Sunhee around?"
Minghao gasped and beamed in Sunhee's direction. "Cute agent boy!! Hello! Sunnie is currently finding the beauty in the ceiling paint, but I can interrupt her if you need me to."
Sunhee's head popped up from behind the couch, hair all frizzy and eyes squinting at the man that had taken her phone. "Who is that?"
Minghao smugly grinned at her and left her wondering as he heard Jungwoo chuckle from the other side of the line. Sunhee leapt from the couch and fought Minghao for her phone.
"Is she okay?" Jungwoo asked in a more serious tone after his laughter died down. "If not, then I can wait a few more days."
Minghao had no intention of letting her answer, but she'd heard Jungwoo's question and yelled to answer before Minghao could.
"No! I mean yes, I'm okay!" Sunhee wrenched her phone from Minghao's grip and huffed as she raised it to her ear.
"Sorry for that. Anyway, who is this?"
Hearing the scuffle between the friends from his side of the line, Jungwoo let out a melodias laugh. Sunhee froze, knowing exactly who it was.
"It's me, Sunnie," He meant to tease her in the way he used her nickname, but it felt more natural coming from his mouth than he thought it would. Both Jungwoo and Sunhee were left a little flustered by his gesture.
Sunhee would have told him not to call her that, but she'd be lying through her teeth if she said she didn't think it was adorable.
"What do you need, Jungwoo?" She suppressed her laugh.
"Uh," He started before he was actually ready to speak. He cleared his throat and tried again.
"I want to take you-- No, uh... I need-- Can I-- Ugh..." He stumbled and stuttered over his words, the wrong things coming out of his mouth.
