The night is silent. Dead. Everyone afraid of stepping out of their havens which they call homes.
Everyone except one. A girl. In a church. Kneeling and praying for strength for herself and her people.
"Father forgive us for we have sinned. We have fallen for the trickery of the Demon and let ourselves be bewitched by his beauty. Forgive us for our ancestors mistakes and help us through these years to overcome our fear and let us end his tyranny.
Father forgive me for I myself have sinned. Though it has been over 100 years since this kingdom has fallen and reluctantly handed to Maximus, the greedy man in need of more power, i feel that it is too my mistake. Help me be part of those who end these dark years. It has been a century, and this needs to be the end. We have had enough. My have grown weary and many have lost faith.
Help me, help my people. I am nothing more than a girl. But give me the strength to fight and defeat this man. Amen."
As she got up, and turned she couldn't help but wonder to herself if their God had turned His back on them. She quickly discarded that thought away into the deepest, darkest, parts of her mind. She was running thin. She no longer had patience. She could no longer wait. Her people needed her. She walked out and there stood her bodyguard.
"Princess", he bowed.
This is it, she decided. She had waited for too long. She is 17 now.
Soon to be 18.
She would NOT let herself be married to the Demon.
She would have to start her escape tonight.
As she jumped into her carriage, turning to face the ghost town that surrounded her, she thought to herself,"I can no longer be bound by these troubling thoughts that plague me. I must be strong and run away, before its too late."
