Spellbound

PRELUDE

I stared without breathing across the long room, into his furious eyes. Kahit madilim ay alam kong nag-aalab sa galit ang asul at ginto nitong mata.

"He came," my mind whispered. "He came to save me.."

Gusto kong tumakbo papunta sa kaniya pero hindi ko magalaw ang buong katawan ko. Namamanhid ito dahil sa gamot na nilagay nila sa katawan ko kanina.

Come on, Escarian. Walk faster!

My eyes went half closed and I know, any moment from now I'll be falling into a deep slumber again. Ngunit nilaban ko ang droga sa aking katawan para pagmasdan siya kahit sa huling pagkakataon.

God knows how I missed him.

God knows how I longed for him.

"I believed you're touching the wrong girl, Thomas," Escarian said in a monotonous tone as he walked facilely towards my direction. He got bruises over his arms and face but it seems like it doesn't affect him at all.

The tears I've kept started to race down my cheeks the moment I felt hand touches my face. It was warm and it brought me to a realization that it was only him who I wanted to be with all along. My heart chose him. I knew, it would be always him.

"You're safe now, Solemn.." he whispered to my weak ears. Hinawakan niya ang balikat ko bago niluhod ang isang paa sa harapan ko. Doon ko nakita ang mga mata niya. He wasn't wearing any contact lenses like he always do. And his eyes were soft but intense. I can tell that he was mad from the way he looked at me.

He wasn't mad at me. He was blaming himself.

"A-ang ganda ng mata mo.." I managed to say despite of the pain in my throat. If this was the only time I have, I wouldn't regret that I've said that words to him.

Marahan niyang hinalikan ang noo ko. "Stupid," he murmured. I heard a soft snap sound and the chains in my hands were gone. I chuckled when I heard his baritone voice but my eyes were slowly dropping.

"Do you think that was gonna be that easy, Lucas?" a hard voice asked from behind me.

I didn't know what happened next but as soon as my eyes closed, I heard three consecutive gunshots.
