"Wake up."
"Come on baby you got to wake up, it's time to get ready for school." I whispered. Nova slowly opened her beautiful blue eyes. I could get lost in those beautiful orbs for a decade, but we didn't have time for that.
"Goodmorning." I smiled. Her curly hair was sticking at weird angles.
"Morning, Lexa." she grinned. "I'm going to go and make breakfast, make sure your sister doesn't fall asleep again. Choose your outfit while I'm gone okay?" I informed her.
"Mmh 'kay." she mumbled before I left the room. I walked over to my room and when I got in I saw my baby brother wide awake, smiling at me. "Well good morning, handsome. Did you sleep well?" I asked in my baby voice.
He started babbling all kinds of things and I kept humming as if I completely understood. I went downstairs to the kitchen with Elija in my arms and by the looks of the dark space my mother wasn't up yet.
I went over to the fridge and opened it. It was almost completely empty, I signed and looked at my brother. "Looks like we're going shopping tonight." I took out the little left in the fridge and started making some sandwiches for the twins as lunch. I baked some pancakes and filled their bags with food and other stuff. I went upstairs to find the twins playing with their old racing cars.
"Did you two find anything to wear?" I asked them as I handed them their breakfast. "Yeah, ifs lywin ower thewe." Nala said with her mouth full of food. She pointed at the end of her bed where some clothes lay. I looked at them and saw some ripped mini jeans, a black t-shirt with roses and some black boots. I chuckled, this looked exactly like my outfit except for the high waist black jeans and black heel boots I was wearing.
"Okay let's get you guys ready." I started with Nala, giving her face a quick wash and throwing on her outfit. I decided to put their hair in some space buns so I took loads of hair products and started with her hair. Our african curly hair is something we inherited from our dad, who died when my mother was pregnant with Elija. After I was done doing her edges I called Nova over and restarted the same process.
"Aaaand, done." I signed and looked at the time, 7:32.
"Why don't you go play with your sister while I get Elija ready?" I asked Nova. "Okay!" she nodded as she jumped off the stool, skipping over to her sister. I walked over to Nova's bed where Elija was currently playing with his teddy.
"Okay little man, what do you say about getting you ready?" I asked Elija, who squealed in response.
"Okay let's go then." I chuckled. Before I left the room I turned to the twins, "Stay here and be quiet, okay? We don't want to wake mom up, do we?" Both twins shook their head with a mortified expression.
I walked to my room which I shared with Elija and I laid him down on the nursery table which almost fell apart. I changed his diaper and put on some fresh clothes which he looked handsome in, as always. After putting on some make up and jewellery I walked back to the girls room.
"Come on girls, we got to go." I said. I looked at my phone, 7:46. We quietly walked downstairs, the girls put on their coats as I got our backpacks. "Let's go." I whispered. We carefully left the house and got into my car.
"Can we put some songs on?" Nala smiled hopefully at me. "Sure what do you want to listen to?" I asked while keeping my eyes on the road. "Oooh ohh, can we put the green one on?" Nova asked excitedly. "Sure baby, I'll put some Billie Eilish on." I chuckled.
Once we arrived at school I quickly gave them their backpacks and helped them to their class. The twins were five which meant they're still in kindergarten. "Good morning girls, how are you?" Julia, their teacher, asked. "Good." they answered in unison.
