Ashton and I's friendship got better and better. It started with talking in classes, exchanging phone numbers and being partners in projects. But it soon changed into, hanging before school, sitting together at lunch and sharing embarrassing stories with each other.

It was friday and I had another fight today. I left the chemistry classroom and walked over to my car. To my surprise Ashton was leaning against it with a grin on his face.

"Hey, what's up?" I asked. "Well, as much as I like hanging with you here at school - which I do - I thought we should hangout at my place tonight. What do you say?" he asked.

"Tonight?" I answered surprised.

"Yeah." he answered unsure.

"I'm sorry I can't tonight. I have plans." I excused. I felt really bad blowing him off but I had a fight to get to.

"Oh, no it's no trouble. Really." he said with a sad smile. "Some other time, I promise. But I really got to go now." I said as I unlocked my car. He nodded and walked away. I gave him one last smile before leaving the parking lot.

I just dropped the kids off at Carol's and was driving to the arena. I parked my car and got in the elevator. The doors opened, I held up my ID and got inside. I walked to the main office and knocked before walking in.

"Hey, mrs. G. So what have you got for me today?" I asked her. "It's one of the tougher ones, but I know you can handle him." she said confidently as she shoved a picture in my face. "Name's Rider. Never lost a fight, but there's a first time for everything right?" she said. I nodded, "How much?" I asked.

"50.000" my eyes widened. "Let's do it." I said before walking to my changing room.

I quickly braided my hair and put my clothes on. I walked out of my room about five minutes before the fight started.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the dark arena!" the presenter called through the microphone.

"Tonight we present you two tough fighters, let's start with the lady who handles pain like sugar. I present you; RAVEN!" the crowd yelled and cheered as I made my way to the ring.

"Let's not forget her opponent, the man who's never lost a fight. I present you; RIDER!" The crowd cheered as Rider made his way to the ring while smirking.

The bell rang signaling the game to start. I scanned his body for weaknesses but didn't find any. This was going to be a tough one.

Before I could even move Rider came at me and hit me in the face. He tried again but I blocked his punch and punched him in the ribs.

I tried punching him again but this time he blocked it and turned my arm around. He gave me a couple of punches from the back which brought me down on my knees.

I looked right in front of me and to my surprise I saw Ashton in the audience. I lost my focus and Rider gave me another punch in the head. I fell on my belly after which Rider sat on my back, he turned me around and looked me straight in the eyes.

"Looks like you're not as tough as you thought you were." he said with a nasty grin.

As he talked, I wriggled my arms away from his grip. "A little tip for you. Try some mint, your breath smells awful." I said just before I gave him some powerful punches.

He fell down so I sat on him now and after a few more punches he was completely defeated.

I got up and walked over to the presenter, inhaling deep breaths. I grinned as he held my hand in the air, signaling I had won. I walked back to my changing room and cleaned the blood off me before heading to the main office.

"Money will be deposited into your account, as always." mrs. G said as I entered her office. "Anything else?" she asked, looking up. "Nope, that's it. Well see you later." I left her office and walked over to the elevator.

"Fighting really?" I heard a familiar voice say. I turned around and was face to face with Ashton. I swallowed. I didn't dare to look him in the eyes. "You could've told me, you know?" he said calmly.

"How would it sound if I told you, yeah I really want to hang out but I have to go beat up a guy tonight for money so another time?" I said sarcastically.

"This is dangerous. You could get killed." he told me. "I need the money." I explained.

"You need to quit. There are other ways to get money." he said with a serious expression.

"Look I don't expect you to understand. You live in this nice house with a nice family with nice jobs. Well guess what, the world isn't fair and life is hard. I need this job and I would appreciate it if you would keep your nose out of my business."

He looked at me with a shocked expression but didn't say anything. I scoffed, turned around and left.
