Five Times Dangerous

- I'm so sorry for this late up date... I've been super busy lately, from moving.
There will be more updates this week, sorry this one is short. -

You kept your nose down, following the trail you left that night; as you trotted along you could barely hear Yuno scurrying behind you.

As you moved along the grass something started to tug at you. The bird had a strange sent to it, it was faint but it wasn't the scent from any bird you caught a whiff of before.

Lifting your head as you noticed the tree line drawing nearer, you pressed your ears close to your neck and slowed your pace so the young boy could caught up.

You could tell he was out of breath as his chest fell and Rose quicky, but he pressed this lips together as he stared into the darken woods. Bell crossed her arms ferocious and let out a sign.

A branch suddenly cracked making the three of you jump, but a small rabbit hopped out of a nearby bush, nibbling at the overgrown weeds. Your stomach started to rubble making you realize you haven't eaten anything since lunch yesterday; and even then the small crackers you were given was barely enough.

You snarled, shaking your head. You've gone without food longer before. Turning towards Yuno and Bell you flicked your head, telling them that your going in.

"I don't think that's so safe." You heard Bell shinned, but you flicked your ear in response took a step forward.

The leaves blocked the sun's rays so it made the group cold to the touch. Every step you took leaves crunched under your pads. The birds scent was lost long ago and yours was faint, then it too vanished.

Cocking your head to the side, you sat down and lips your chops in frustration. Behind you Yuno groaned as his foot got caught on a vine.

"Where are you going?" He grunted as he ripped the vine off with anger and tossed it aside with annoyance.

"I don't know anymore."

"What?!" You heard Bell snapped

"My trail.. it ended" you said, you slowly lifted your head to look at the branches. "And so did the birds."

"Trails can't just vanish." Yuno mumbled as he stood besides you.

"I know that."  You growled

Bell started to complain. Your a wolf, but a dumb one. You should have left,"

"Quite!" You hissed between clenched teeth, holding your tail high.

"Don't you dare cut me off you mutt." She growled.

"I can swallow you whole maget! Now be quite, someone's here."

You tilted your head towards the direction of a tight cluster of trees. Bell shut her mouth, and Yuno tensed his muscles.

You steadily crept forward, making sure you took every step with care. You've done this multiple of times, but you were always the one stalking.

You lifted your lips and snarled, but what jumped out was not what you were expecting.

A cat launched it self out of the dark hissing.  It landed lightly on it's feet behind you, back arched. It's tan and black spotted coat stood out against the forest greenery.

You whipped around, fangs bared. Behind the feline Yuno already opened his grimoire, ready to spring at any moment. Bell hoovered above his shoulder.

The cat gave out another low hiss, before relaxing it's back. It began to swish its tail to a fro before letting it drop.

It opened it jaws and growled, "For someone who's been treated so wrongly by the human race, it surprises me you still run back to them." It's voice was harsh and feminine, but it still sounded young.

The cat made you stop in your tracks, your lips were no longer pulled back into a snarl and your ears were softly pulled back.

Yuno and Bell stood silently there, they were too stunned to move. Even though we live in a world that magic is everything,  a talking cat is not something you see everyday. Sure, you could give a potion to an animal and it would talk, but not in proper sentences; and it would only work for a few hours.

The cat who waited for a reply got opened sits mouth to speak once more but was inurpted from shouts and calls in the distance. The noise snapped each of you out of your trans, making the four of you turn to the direction of the commotion.

You could hear Nozel barking orders angrily at others, while Mereoleona started to shout with annoyance.

You turned back to the cat, but it was gone. You inched forward where moments ago it stood. You twitched your nose, but you couldn't pick up it's scent. You lifted your head to meet Yuno gaze, then shook your head. A light sign escaped your lips.

It's like it wasn't here...
