[Oh my gosh. Today was my first day of school and it was so tiring. My first class starts at 9 and my fourth class ends at 3:10. It takes up my whole day. So, now I might be a little late on updating. Maybe. Depends when I write the chapters and if I have homework and all. So yeah. But here it is. The next chapter. Enjoy.]
Professor Slughorn was speaking to the class when Harry and Ron entered the classroom. After Slughorn told them to get textbooks from the cubert, he continued talking to the class. "Now, as I was saying, I prepared some concoctions for you this morning. Any idea what these might be?" I raised my hand. "Yes, miss Jeon." I started explaining what each potion was, then I got to the last one. "The last one is Amortentia, the most powerful love potion in the world. It's rumored to smell differently to each person according to what attracts them."
| Draco's POV |
My ears perked up at what Y/n said. "For example I smell spearmint, citrus...apples, and..." she furrowed her eyebrows a little, "rust?" Y/n said as she got lost in the scents. Some girls behind her started giggling. I got curious as to what I smelled. So I inhaled deeply and...
Oh dear Merlin...
I shouldn't have done that. I had to cover my nose to control myself and stay calm and not run over and kiss Y/n. But gosh do I love her sweet scent of vanilla and roses.
"Now Amortentia does not create actual love. That'd be impossible, but it does create powerful infatuation or obsession. For that reason it is probably the most dangerous potion in history." Slughorn explained. He closed the lid of the cauldron containing the potion and I sighed of relief, letting go of my nose.
"Sir, you haven't told us what's in that one." A Gryffindor girl said, pointing to a small vial containing a clear liquid. "Yes," said Slughorn. "What you see before you, ladies and gentlemen, is a curious little potion known as Felix Felicis. It is more commonly reffered to as-"
"Liquid Luck." The Mudblood butted in. "Yes, Miss Granger. Liquid Luck. Desperately tricky to make, distasterous should you get it wrong. One sip and you will find that all your endeavors succeed."
That really caught my attention. "At least until the effects wear off." the Professor added. "So, this is what I offer each of you today. One tiny vial of Liquid Luck to the student who, in the hour that remains, manages to brew an acceptable Draught of Living Death. Recipes to which will be found on page 10 of your books." Everyone eagerly opened their books. Slughorn continued.
"I should point, however, only one student manages to brew a potion of sufficient quality can claim this prize. Nonetheless, good luck to you all. Let the brewing commence."
| Y/n's POV |
Brewing that potion was a lot harder than I thought. In fact, everyone seemed to have some sort of trouble. Everyone except for Harry. "How'd you do that?" I asked, as he was able to get the juice out of the bean. "Crush it, don't cut it." he replied. "No, the instructions specifically say to cut." Hermione protested. "No, really." Harry assured. I tried what he said. Crushing it really did work. I raised my brows in surprise.
As time passed, the class still had trouble. Seamus had his potion blow up- obviously-, and Hermione's hair got really frizzy. Harry, on the other hand, was doing just fine. I made a choice to copy what he did, instead of reading off the textbook. In the end, Harry won the Liquid Luck. Fortunately, I got the second best potion. But what bothered me was how Harry brewed such a perfect potion. Draught of Living Death was one of the hardest potions to make. Something isn't right.
