Mum brought me into a tight embrace and held me there for a little while. She kept silent with her face buried on my shoulder.
She was trying not to cry. I knew that and the worst part was, I was doing the same thing.
"B-be good." She choked out as I tightened my arms around her.
"I'll try." My small joke didn't enlighten the mood as much as I had hoped. She looked up at me finally and instantly caught the falling tear from her cheek like she knew it was coming. "It'll be a while before I see you again won't it?" Her lips trembled even worse as she pulled me into another hug. No words came from her and I wasn't expecting any.
'Flight 2078 to London is now boarding. I repeat flight 2078 to London is now boarding'.
"That's my flight." I mumbled hesitantly prying mum away from me. She nodded as I caught her next falling tear. "I love you. Please take care while I'm gone."
"L-love you to." She muttered as I gave her lips a quick kiss.
"I'll text you when I land." I waved walking towards my terminal. She nodded waving and wiped more tears away.
God... I hate seeing her like this.
"I love you!" I called turning from her and walking towards my boarding flight. Seems another amount of people are making their way to London as well. This should be an exciting trip. Ok, maybe there was the tiniest amount of sarcasm in that.
"Thank you and enjoy your flight to London." I was thanked by the woman stamping my ticket. With a nod, I pulled my suitcase with me and boarded the plane.
"Hello ma'am." I was greeted by an air hostess. She looked over my ticket and guided me where to sit. It was actually in the back corner in front of the toilet against the window. Not the worst seat I guess.
Putting my suitcase in the compartment above me, I took out my phone and earplugs before seating myself. An elderly couple took the two last seats beside me as I buckled myself in, staring out the window.
I waited for a while until everyone was settled so we could take off and I could listen to my music.
The moment finally came when the captain announced our departure. The whole plane quieted and I watched, waiting for our take off.
The plane suddenly increased speed up the runway pulling me back into my chair. My heart skipped a beat as I watched the wheels and actual plane take off into the air.
It was amazing. Excited butterflies erupted within me before the captain came back onto the overhead, saying we could now turn on our electronic devices. Immediately turning my phone on, I plugged in my earplugs and flipped through my playlist. The soft melody took over and I smiled closing my eyes.
I was in for a very long flight.
. . .
Falling asleep multiple times over the dragged out hours, we finally came close to our destination of London. It was nearly midnight over here and I was excited, scared, tired and annoyed all at the sane time.
Maybe jet lag does this to people.
"Attention all passengers." The captain went on to saying that we will shortly arriving to the airport. I rubbed my eyes and looked out the window to see city lights not to far off below us.
It wasn't long after that when we touched down at the airport. I can't believe it. I'm actually in London. London England!
The pitch black sky and bright city lights made me eager to exit the plane and see London.
But unfortunately, the two old people were taking their time and it was beginning to get on my nerves. The plane was almost empty and they still hadn't moved.
Having enough, I jumped over to the seat in front of me and escaped from there. With my suitcase and lots of excitement, I thanked the crew and left into the airport. Their airport was slightly structured differently to ours so I had a bit of trouble finding my way around.
It was brilliant to say thought that the people here happily gave me directions of where I needed to go. The accents were so foreign and interesting to me that I sometimes asked for help just to hear the English accent.
When I thought the inside of the terminal was crowded, I really must have misjudged the outside.
"Jesus..." I muttered looking at the crowds of people scattering inside and outside the airport around me. "Amazing." Was the only word that slipped my mouth.
As my eyes scoured around, I looked at chauffers and the boards with people's names on it. God, wouldn't it be nice if-
'Bailey Evans'
Is that... is that my name?
