A CAR was already waiting when we landed. Raphael must've arranged it to come pick me up.
I let out a deep sigh as I enter the car. I remember the look on his face. We were supposed to spend the day together...pero iniwan ko siya. I'm so stupid on not explaining things to Lanze even when he asked me to rely on him.
The guilt is eating me up.
Raphael's right. If Lanze and I are going to try, I should not be unfair to him. I need to fix myself first, kung hahayaan ko ang sarili kong makulong sa nakaraan, wala akong patutunguhan.
"Manong, pwede po ba tayong dumaan muna dito?" Binigay ko ang address sa driver.
I guess I want to see it for myself. Gusto kong makita kung totoo ba...totoo bang buhay si Eziq. But I really don't know what I will do if he ever saw me.
I looked outside the window. Pamilyar ang dinadaanan namin ngayon. It looks like the way to our school before. Kung saan kami lahat nagkakilala.
"Manong alam niyo po ba kung anong meron sa address na yan?" Tanong ko.
"Ma'am, malapit po ito doon sa school ng Hillsmoon at Azulea. Sa pagkakaalam ko po ay bahay ampunan ang naroon"
An orphanage? What's Eziq doing there?
"Andito na po tayo. Hindi po ba kayo bababa?"
Binaba ko ang bintana ng sasakyan. I scanned the place. Malaki ang lugar at maraming bata ang naglalaro sa yard nito. The children seems to be happy, this orphanage must be treating them well.
"Hey kids, pumasok muna kayo at napakainit dito sa labas."
I stiffened when I heard a familiar voice. A tall lean guy smiling widely at the children. Without knowing my tears run down my face.
"Kuya! Kuya! Kanina pa po iyang sasakyan jan sa labas. Sa tingin niyo po ba may bisita ngayon?" Tinuro naman ng bata ang pwesto ko. He turned to this direction and I gasped for air. Napatakip naman ako ng bibig para pigilan ang paghikbi.
It's him. It's really him. How...how can this be...
"Itatanong ko" sabi niya sa bata. Tumayo siya at akmang lalapit sa kinaroroonan ko.
"Manong ais na tayo bilis!"
I closed the window as as we set off. Hindi ko pa kaya. I know I wanted to see him but I'm scared to talk to him. I just can't run to him and welcome him as if nothing happened.
"Ma'am, sa condo niyo po?"
"Hindi po. Sa bahay po nila Papa"
