CHAPTER 25

After that shocking event happening infront of the Mendoza's house, Lanze's mother invited Seraphiel over dinner. She felt embarassed knowing she saw what happen back there, all of it. Pero hindi naging hadlang iyon para mag-usap usap sila.

His mother was very generous and hospitable. Ramdam niyang parang parte na talaga siya ng pamilya nito. She did want to ask more about his father but it wasn't just the right moment. She felt that it was a sensitive topic to open.

"I can't believe my son would bring a lady from a power house family." Tumingin ito kay Lanze. "You really did surprise me." Patuloy lang sa pag complement ang ina nito sa kaniya, they are very well off too, pero masyadong mabait ito. Ngumingiti nalang siya bilang reply dahil hindi niya alam ang sasabihin. Lanze was just happily watching from the side.

"So when did you two met?" His mother asked.

"At the island" Lanze answered. "During work. Napakasungit niya pa nun saakin. She won't even let me have a conversation with her" dagdag pa nito. Siniko naman niya ito ng palihim.

"You probably look stupid for her to notice you. Masyado ka kasing weird anak" she laughed, well it was true. Mayroon ngang mga weird na habits itong si Lanze.

Agad naman itong nagreklamo sa ina. "Ma, I thought you're on my side?"

The dinner was very fun. Marami itong naikwento tungkol sa pagkabata ni Lanze it isn't as lively as hers pero nakakatuwang pakinggan ang adventures ng lalaki during his teenage years. Naiwan naman siya sa loob pagkatapos kasama ang ina ni Lanze cause she was touring around their house. Lanze got out to get the car ready dahil ihahatid daw siya nito pauwi as per his mom's request.

"You probably want to ask about his father, right?" Is that really obvious? Tumango naman siya. If it's a way to know Lanze more then why not.

They walked to another hall just behind the living room. Seraphiel could only drop her jaw in amusement, she was out of words. She thought that words aren't enough to describe this scene.

The hall is filled with certifications, medals, pictures of his father accepting an award. Lanze's pictures graduating and him getting the position he has now. By the end of the hall was a marine soldiers uniform and a huge portrait of his Father. They do look alike. So he was a marine general.

"My son got inspired by his father, he said that one day he'll be like him. Pero gusto niya in some way that Lanze would change his mind about being a soldier. Lanze replied us saying 'I won't'. So hindi nga siya nag marine pinili naman niyang mag air force. I was kind of seriously regretting him by that time" napailing naman ang nanay nito. Kahit siya ay hindi alam kung matatwa o mapapailing din sa takbo ng utak ni Lanze. 

"But he prove himself. And we were very proud at the same time scared. His father died honorably serving this country. At natatakot ako na baka ganoon din ang mangyari sa kaniya. He didn't show any kind of interest in having a family before, that's why we rejected the Fhazans" tumingin naman ito sa kaniya.

"And that is why I'm very blessed and happy that he met you, and you're together now. I was relived that he had found someone like you, who would go in such lengths just to fight for love. He needs you by his side and that goes for you too. Love and take care of each other." Niyakap siya nito and she felt warm. His mother loves him very dearly. Nawala ang hiya niya sa kalaamang nakita at narinig nito ang eksena kanina. That was indeed a brave move.
