Mal couldn't stop her reeling mind conjuring up the horrible thoughts. The day of the event. Family day.

"Grammy, I don't think you should be talking to this girl. Unless you feel like taking another hundred year nap." Mal brushed her pink hair out of her face as she knocked on the door to Fairy Godmother's office.

"You may enter." A voice said from inside. She creaked open the door.

"Mal! Goodness, are you ok? You look like you've been crying..." Fairy Godmother said as Mal entered the room. She turned her gaze to look up at the woman. Fairy Godmother looked just as stressed as she did.

"What do you think villains teach their children?!" Mal looked at a nearby chair.

"May I...?" She asked hesitantly. Fairy Godmother looked taken aback.

"Well, of course! Have a seat!" She said as she pulled a lighter out of her desk.

Mal watched as Fairy Godmother lit a cigarette, and she could not stop herself from saying "That's not very good for your health..."

Fairy Godmother nodded slowly but did not remove the cigarette from her mouth. She only smoked when she was upset.

"What did you need, dear?" She asked. Mal sighed.

"I.... it's about family day... I'm having a bit of trouble getting over it." She said, trying not to let her voice shake.

"If I'm being quite honest, I too keep thinking back to it. Queen Leah was never one for talking it out, and yet I had tried multiple times to soothe her wrath. They didn't end well." Fairy Godmother told her. Mal looked at her lap.

"But it wasn't just Queen Leah. Chad got worked up too! And then he started insulting not only me, but my friends as well..." Chad's words floated around in her mind.

"You stole another girl's boyfriend. You enjoy hurting people. And you, you're nothing but a gold digger and a cheater." He has said to each person.

"Mal? Are you still with me?" Fairy Godmother was saying.

"Sorry, Sorry.... I must have dazed off..." Mal replied.

Fairy Godmother, as if reading her mind, said "There will be jerks in your life. But you can't let them fulfill their goal. And their goal is to hurt you. No matter how many times they tell you that you shouldn't be trusting the daughter of a witch, you can't listen..." She stared at the floor for a few minutes before continuing.

"It doesn't matter where you came from, what matters is who you choose to be." Mal felt something spark inside.

"Thank you. For everything." She said. Fairy Godmother smiled.

"It will get better, I promise you." Mal nodded before standing up, walking over to Fairy Godmother, and giving her a hug. The two girls stayed for a moment, then Mal backed up.

"Again, thank you for your time." She said. As she walked to the door, ready to leave, she heard Fairy Godmother's shaky voice.

"It was my pleasure."

Uuughghh I feel so bad about this one. Took me FOREVER due to extreme procrastination. And I hope I didn't make it too obvious that I never watched Descendants. Sorry about the long wait.
