Author's Note: Places, people, associations mentioned below were all fiction and not existing in real life. Any similarities were all just coincidence. Lol
The National School Athletic Association would be starting the 51st Annual Games in three weeks time. It was like olympic but the participants were all highschools throughout the country. From physical sports like football to academic like chess and mathletics, everyone was excited and treating it really serious. It was a big deal for us.
You see, Riverside was competitive to this kind of events. The school valued the awards the athletes brought after the session and many of these athletes found the event their chance to be seen by college scouts for possible scholarship program in different respectable Ivy Leagues.
I am on the cheer team. Mostly because I love dancing and everyone expected for me to be the cheer captain, so whatever. And being on the cheer team means people were expecting for us to play our best routine on the opening of the Game. We've got 25 competitors but we were only expecting 5 high schools to have a close fight with us. I need to do my best this year though, since people were expecting for me to. Last year's my first year as cheer captain and I managed to bagged the championship award. Talk about the pressure.
We've been practicing a lot since the school year but Coach Kenneth liked for us to double our time since last week so here we are, Ezra and I were still at school even at 5 in the afternoon. The practice finished only a minute ago.
The bad thing about these after school practices was Seb and I didn't have much more time to bond anymore. But the good about it was he got himself on the football team as co-captain and Logan didn't even flinch or give a damn about it like he did when Drew had the position.
Seb and I didn't had a talk about my one month driving obligation to him nor the truce him and my brother done. And though he didn't told me directly, I know those truces were all forgotten now, us being together already.
"It's Friday. We going to a party Red Whittington is throwing tonight?"Ezra asked me on our way to the ladies' locker room where our showers were also installed.
"I don't know. People expect us to be there, I mean it's not a party without us, but then I'm a little tired so who cares about them?"I answered nonchalantly.
After almost two hours of perfecting our routine, I just have no energy to be anywhere but my bed tonight.
"But Seb and the guys from football will surely be there."
"Maybe I can make Seb to come over my house than to that party."I smiled at her and she snorted at me.
"Lo, I specifically heard Maddison that she heard Cliff awhile ago telling someone from the team that Seb told him that they'd be at the party. Something like a promise to someone or something."She said before going inside the cubicle to shower.
I didn't answer and just shrugged it off. The first thing I hate about school is gossip. Seb making promise to someone to go to some party? Not likely. It doesn't even make sense.
After 30 minutes, was about to leave the school when we bumped into Jessica. Jessica made the cheer team too, she was quiet good actually but she was a major kiss ass.
"Hey Lolie, going to the party later?"She asked while smiling too sweetly.
"Nah."I answered shortly. She looked at me like I need to explain further but I only raises my eyebrow to her.
"Well. The girls and I are all going since the whole football team will be there too considering it's Red's party." She said. Red was also part of the team. Same cliche group, people are expecting the same old drama.
"Enjoy then."I said while walking away from her, Ezra was walking beside me but she looked back at Jessica, furrowing her brows.
"Oh, Lolie, I forget---"
"Stop calling me Lolie, the name's Lola."I snapped at her. What's with her and this Lolie nickname?
"Sorry, my bad!"she giggled and literally run after me.
"Do you need anything?I really wanted to go home."
"Seb will be there, just so you know." She said, not even bother with my glaring.
"How do you know?"I asked while checking my nails, not really interested for her answer.
"Duh. Christie made him promise her he'll go. I don't know the reason though! Anyway, Seb can be a lot of things but I know the guy. He can't say no to beautiful girls, especially Christie."Jessica smirked at me.
"Christie? Logan's Christie?" Now that got me interested.
"They broken up, if you didn't know which is a bull since you're his twin, but yeah, that's Christie. Seb and her has this kind of on and off things between them, if you know what I mean."
"What do you mean?" Now I'm lost. As far as I know Seb didn't know Christie, much more have past with her.
"Oh! You didn't know?!" She reached for her mouth, eyes wide, faking innocence. I know the girl was trying to mess with my head.
"Tell me already, I didn't have much time."
She smiled sweetly at me, it makes me feel sick that I want to slap her face.
"Maybe it's better to ask Seb."She answered and was about to walk away but I grabbed her shoulder and forcefully spin her around. My nails digging at her bare shoulder, her eyes went wide.
If she thought I was an easy prey, she didn't know me then. She can't just tell those things to me then leave without clarifying. Ezra came closer too, eyeing her every move.
"Okay, okay, no need to be so violent."She said feigning fear but I know better. She was luring me into a trap.
"Speak."
"Christie was Seb's girlfriend. That's all I know!"she said before walking away completely in a hurry.
I looked at Ezra. She was mirroring my expression. We were both confused and were both can't believe it.
"Christie was his girlfriend?"Ezra asked. I didn't answer because my mind was already running a thousand miles. We both walked towards the parking lot, the sun was already setting and the place was illuminated by the lamp posts all over the place.
"Are you okay?"Ezra grabbed my shaking hands.
"I'm honestly not. I don't understand. He didn't tell me about Christie. Why?"I asked, frustrated and angry at Seb for omitting that kind of information.
"Maybe Jessica was lying?"Ezra suggested. I thought about it too, to be honest, but something was telling me that she was telling the truth. Call it instinct but I was almost sure Seb intentionally didn't mention it to me, but why?
"I'll see you later at the party. We are going. Tell the girls."I told her before opening my car.
Ezra sighed but nodded. "Are you sure you're okay? Maybe I should drive you home and just leave your car here? I'm sure the school parking is safe enough to leave your car."She offered but I declined.
"I'm okay. Please don't mention to anyone about it, even Soli and Cara. I need to find the truth first."I said and she nodded.
We hugged before she jogged towards her car at the other side of the parking area.
I maneuvered from the parking still thinking the possible scenarios as to why Seb never mentioned Christie being his ex.
There was something about it that irk me and I need to find out soon. I just hope Seb has enough reason why he did hide it from me. Because if none, I'll be very very disappointed. And no one like a very disappointed Lola Andrews.
