Chapter 35

I looked to Jeno with worry, watching as he crumpled to the floor after finding out the truth behind his sister's death. The younger had dedicated the last two years of his life to hating his own mate because he thought Jaemim killed his sister for no good reason. Instead, he found out the death of his sister saved all of us from our own doom.

When Jaemin asked all of us to keep the reason a secret I thought he was insane. What person would want the love of their life despising them? But after Jaemin told us he wanted Jeno to have a good memory of his sister we could do nothing but respect is wishes.

Now, a few minutes later, my phone rang just as I was comforting Jeno. It was Yuta.

"What's up?" I asked, keeping my tone a bit lighthearted in order to bring up the mood. However, what Yuta said instantly made me change.

"John, the vampires are attacking in the city right now! I need backup! All of them are here!" Yuta shouted, not even pausing for a second to breathe.

My eyes widened. "What?!" I shouted. "This is all wrong. The vampires are attacking in the city right now?! All of them?!"

Jeno sprang to his feet as soon as he heard my words. "What?!" He repeated, coming close to my ear to hear what Yuta had to say.

"Hyung," The latter continued. "I can't let out a howl or else they'll find me, but I already contacted Jaehyun and he's getting the others. I need you to come with everyone, now. Hurry! They've already started to attack the humans on the streets! It's complete chaos on my end!"

I clenched my jaw. "Got it." I responded, quickly ending the call and springing into action.

Why did the vampires start attacking people now?! Out of all days why is it today?! This completely ruins both plans! I thought, brushing my hair back and bursting out of my office.

It was almost four in the morning, so the rest of the pack were asleep. I needed Chenle and the betas.

Jeno grabbed onto my shoulder, making me stop with his strong grip. "Johnny-hyung," He started, now staring at me with determination instead of sadness. "What do you need me to do?"

There was no time for me to be touched at his leadership, so I hurriedly spoke. "I need everyone up, and brought down here." I told, receiving a nod from Jeno before the two of us ran up the stairs.

Banging on every door, Jeno and I went down the hall of rooms, waking up the betas, omegas and wizard who were sleeping. In less than five minutes everyone had rushed down, startled by the way they were woken up.

"John-hyung, what's wrong?" Donghyuck asked, eyes puffy and hair disheveled from being the only one who managed to fall out of bed.

My heart was beating rapidly, and everything around me began to move faster. So, my words and movements copied the world around me. "The vampires are in the city. There's no time to think about why they're attacking now, but we have to move. Betas and Chenle go to the city, omegas stay here to protect 'The House'. Kun, Sicheng, you're in charge." I ordered. Without any other questions, the pack followed my command, leaving us to go out and fight.

I turned on my heel, motioning for the betas to start making their way to the city. Just as I was leaving 'The House', I heard the omegas shout.
