"Why did you save me Easton?"
"To save myself."
"What?"
"You think only your land is in danger. But your lover boy has endangered my land and my people. Your quest to avenge your love cost the innocent lives of my soldiers."
"People always die in wars. Always." Sera said.
Yet she felt she was trying to convince herself more.
"They do. Now let's get out of here before the ground falls down from under our feet."
Hailstones were beginning to come down and the river looked like an angry monster.
"Keep on the wall if you want to live. That water is just as patient as the tempest."
They ran over the wall in silence and reached the end of the tower.
"Through the rust gates," said Easton. Then he stopped.
"What do you want to do?" He said.
Sera couldn't believe she had heard the concern right in his voice. She remembered the concern she had heard the fall after she had been kidnapped.
She had been convinced then that Easton was a double crossing cruel person.
But now she felt different. All her life she had been taught she had one chance at life. One chance at love, honour, glory. If she messed it up, she would lose forever. She had been taught to give up her life for the honour of her clan. She remembered "Ryna Furwer knows no honour" as clearly as if she had heard it yesterday. Today she felt as if Ryna had been right all this time. She felt like she had a second chance- another chance at life, at love.
"What do you want to do?" Easton was glaring at her.
"Your lover boy may spare you but the guards will be here any moment and they won't spare me!"
"He's a traitor," said Sera.
"Ok, this hailstorm may kill you before he does."
"We need to find Cederic and kill him."
"Through the rust gates then, follow me."
Beyond the tower, Easton made his way quickly over some precarious rocks.
"Your castle has rust gates?" Sera said in disbelief, trying to make herself heard over the howling wind.
"I couldn't find any..."
Easton disappeared behind a little brick wall which seemed to fall off right into the river.
As Sera climbed over, she found herself pulled into a little niche in the wall.
"After you," said Easton, opening the rust gates.
"This place is impossible to find," said Sera. "I thought your castle didn't have any."
"Isn't that the point of rust gates?" Lord Cruez smiled. "To keep us safe from clever intruders like you."
"Now we need to get past the guards in the Armoury. This one spear won't last the two of us." He continued, making his way down the passage.
"We don't need to," Sera smiled smugly.
What's happening now? How did you like this chapter? Let me know
Peace
