If you had told Harper a year ago that she would be getting dirty looks on her first day of the new school year for driving somebody, ie a hot boy, to school she would've laughed. Mainly due to the cliche absurdity, but still. Paul had kept his promise that he would show her around the school in exchange that she go out of her way to pick him up. All in all, it seemed fair enough, but she should've known there was a catch.
She had come to two conclusions as she exited her car only to be met with annoyed gasps and wandering eyes or murmurs. A) Paul was a manwhore. Which was probably not the case, he didn't seem the type, maybe aggressive given by how he vehemently disagreed with her music selection, lightly joking with her the entire ride there, but nothing too insanely flirtatious. B) Paul was a notorious loner that didn't interact with anybody if he didn't have to. This didn't sit well with Harper either as she had seen him be his usually insanely sociable self at Emily's with Jared and Sam.
Harper hurried her strides to catch up with a stony-faced Paul. "Why is everyone doing that?" She asked in a hushed whisper. Paul spared her a glance noticing her eyes were not on him, but the crowds of students that hung outside the school before it started.
He rolled his black eyes and winked. "It's because you're with me," he said throwing an arm around Harper's shoulder. Harper faked a gag and Paul let out a laugh, dropping his arm to his side when she pushed him off.
Paul's face brightened even more at the sight of Jared who had his arms wrapped around an insanely pretty Quileute girl. Paul bounded towards them before backtracking and tugging Harper slightly by her wrist as she was glued to her spot.
She was a really pretty girl in her defense.
"Hey, guys!" Jared exclaimed excitedly, waving one hand. The girl under his arm gave a shy wave and a bright smile showing off stark white teeth.
"Harper, Kim. Kim, Harper," Paul introduced shortly. Jared unraveled himself from Kim as he and Paul did some sort of bro hug greeting thing.
"Hi, Harper it's so nice to meet you," Kim was more reserved than Jared who was starting to remind me Harper of the boys on the football team at her old school. What was the term for them, himbo?
"Back at ya, Kim," Harper mumbled out, her eyes flicking towards the groups of people watching them. 'What in the hell?', she thought, furrowing her eyebrows.
Kim took notice and slinked closer to the girl. "A little birdy told me it's your first day, you need help finding the office?" Kim asked kindly.
Harper shook her head, tearing her gaze away from the stares and back to Kim's expectant look. "Paul promised Em, but..." she trailed off noticing the intense conversation he and Jared were wrapped up in. Kim let out a small laugh before leading the way through the crowded halls.
